  • It's been common

on Salon for critics who like a certain movie to also interview the directors. Andrew O'Hehir does it all the time, or combines interviews with reviews. So Zacharek reviewed the movie and interviewed the director. O'Hehir had praised the movie from Sundance. Zacharek had praised Hustle and Flow. But that there was also a music piece engenders suspicion in your mind.

The word campaign was sloppy. I meant the question itself being asked by you and others, not your post.

But since the suspicion of a taint has been raised, tell me, where are the ads? And if Paramount were paying Salon, then how come Salon pans its bigger release, Zodiac?

It's easy to raise these kind of suspicions. The inference of corruption always makes juicy writing. But all you or anyone has is one critics' praise which, a cursory glance at reviews will tell you, is hardly a voice in the wilderness.

  • Yada, yada, yada. All of y' all keep jawin' 'bout BSM.

I am truly grateful Salon and TPTB did

not decide to review that load of crap with John Travolta. I would truly be a'scairt if all of this was about that.

At least BSM brings out all of these diverse opinions. Differing view points I could have never conjured on my own.

A lack of living experiences on my part,I guess.

I find all of the bantering entertaining. Some comments make more sense than others.Who am I to judge?

As for the one that won't see BSM.

Why don't y'all go see the John Travolta movie.(Becareful for subliminal

    scientology messages ,though;0

  • The old double standard

In society, when a woman is sexually promiscuous it's seen as a "sickness" but with men it's seen as a normal part of their sexuality. It would be more interesting to see it the other way around: Christina Ricci chaining up a scanitly clad Samuel Jackson while she tries to heal his so-called sickness. But this would probably offend the many male viewers flocking to get a glimpse of sex-pot Ricca's bruised behind.

  • Should People Buy This Film?

I went to see Spider-Man 3 and i thought it was not as good as the 1 and 2. All they hype around the film was what pushed it through (i should have listened to the guys at imoovie.com)

Now we have a film like Black Snake Moan that ia an indie; no action scenes, no car chases, no over the top ad campaign, but because it's not "mainstream" it gets pushed under the rug. I think we should give it a shot.

Spiderman 3 - dont believe the hype
