"The Good German"

Clooney looks great -- again -- in black-and-white. But "Good German" is no "Good Night."

Stephanie

This review is a mess. Go back and read "Film Review for Dummies" and get over yourself.

Thanks Stephanie!

I've added "The Best Years of Our Lives," "Call Northside 777" and "Detour" to my Netflix queue. (I've already seen "Double Indemnity.")

Stephanie a wanna be "filmmaker"

,They seem to think they're giving old-timey sentimental crap a good licking, but all they're really doing is proving how little they understand postwar (or wartime) American filmmaking in the first place.

That's called an opinion, from a critic, and a pretty flawed one.

By comparison, "filmmaking" is actually another distinct profession involving, you guessed it, making movies. That is technically what they actually do, and Stephanie does not.

Just saying, FYI.

This is a terrible review.

I usually think the attacks on Ms. Zacharek's writing style are mean and unwarranted, but this review is an unsubstantiated mess. I'm afraid the author either really phoned it in, or just wasn't watching the film very closely.
