Alec Baldwin has performed well in some very interesting character roles since he saved the world as Jack Ryan. There was a beast in that beauty. The cinema and television and audiences are better off for it.
have their place in the world. Anytime that troubled and even harmful people can be portrayed with sympathy it opens us up to a spirit of forgiveness. It is also nice to see a movie that carefully portrays people who may seem too strange to deal with. These people have value too.
I look forward to seeing this movie after reading this review.
Not sure if Baldwin will ever truly get the respect he deserves as an actor..... a shame....because he IS very very GOOD, indeed.
Can't wait to see this...
Baldwin's performance in "The Departed" is brilliant, and ridiculously funny. I would like to offer up an hour of my precious time each week to anyone who will develop a television series around that character. PLEASE! I'll even watch the commercials!
Baldwin was barely in it. I agree he's gotten better with age, but there's not much for him to do in this movie, so he didn't really impress me much. The acting did hold together a movie that was uneven at times. Except for Paltrow. She never could act her way out of a paper bag, and she's actually regressing. No comic timing. God, her mother is an absolute joy to watch on Huff though.
Agree totally about Joe Feinnes. Too bad we don't see him more.
Evan Rachel Wood steals every scene she is in--and this was the case on that tv show and in all her films. Why on earth is so much ink written about Lindsay Lohan--as if she's such a brilliant actress--when there are wonderful young actresses like Wood? Oh, I know why. For the same reason that OJ Simpson wrote a book, and will get a lot of attention.
