I enjoy reading Stephanie's reviews. She's literate and coherent. She's been asked to put her opinion out in front of a whole bunch of other very opinionated people. (Us.) Every time she does, she takes flak for it. I suspect she's stopped losing sleep over it a long time ago.
Sometimes I read her reviews after I see a given movie, and sometimes before. If I agree or disagree, I neither hate her or love her more. She's a person, and I don't expect her to nail every movie perfectly or synch her views to my own.
I know my reaction to this movie probably seems silly, but as I watched it, I often felt a sort of "preachin' to the choir" itch of discomfort.
It appears to be the kind of movie that the Libs (us, well me admittedly) are going to find funny/entertaining, but that THEY (the big THEY, them, the same ones who hate Hollywood, think Hollywood tries to manipulate public discourse to its own benefit, think liberal values are generated by Hollywood and are essentially ruining the country) are going to point to as another example of Liberal sniping.
Of course, it's been a while since a movie has really set a fire in this country, so my touchiness is probably unfounded. "Brokeback Mountain" and "Thank You for Smoking" generated a deafening yawn among the right, so chances are good that "Operation Ignore" is well underway for this flick, too.
P.S. Love the "standardized fill-in-the-b*tching form" above.
