"North Country"

This well-acted moral melodrama can't quite outrun the grinding wheel of formula.

See North Country For The Acting

Agreed, Andrew. It's competent, well-acted (especially by Theron, McDormand, and Richard Jenkins), and not a bad way to spend a few hours at the movies. Still, this is not new subject matter, nor does director Caro find glorious ways to make the formulaic material fresh. People should see 'North Country'...particularly those who enjoy movies in which the parts (the actors) outshine the whole (the movie itself).
