the weasel...

calamine: "YOU suck!"
Nice to see you raising the level of discourse.
I suppose you believe anybody who doesn't parrot your own views is an anti-semite. Is that it?
Seems to me you aren't contributing anything of value or even intelligence to this discussion. You also aren't a shining example of why your own side is more reasonable than that of others.
Better Her than ME!
We're all in the suck.
YOU suck!
I'd step back from this brood
Any moment now
The cork's gonna pop
And look out dude!
calamine: "Also, nice to see Xrandadu Hutman likes Bloomsbury. Nice to have all the nazis in a bunch."
I don't "like" Bloomsbury, but I thought he made good points in that one post.
If you're calling me a nazi, then fuck you.
Labeling anybody who isn't feverishly pro-Israel as a "nazi" or an "anti-semite" is evidence of weakness on your side.
You can't dispute the actual arguments, so you just label people in the worst possible manner.
It's just like people on Fox-News calling people "socialists," or crew-cut morons in the 1950s calling people "Reds" and "commies."
(Granted there are a few actual anti-semites out there, and they suck.)
half crazed with race hate
he's nearly lost what's left of his mind..
Me: "Some seem to be arguing that the driver didn't see her, or that there's "no evidence" he saw her. That is what I am arguing, and I have no idea why Xanthro thinks it's worth contradicting (my guess is he's doing it for sport or out of sheer stubbornness)."
Edit the 2nd sentence above to read:
"That is what I am arguing against, and I have no idea.... (etc.)"
If a = b and b = c, then a = c.
compassus, a nazi (admires MerelyMortalMale), hates John Anderson
and Omar Effendi. Why? John is a quiet humorous easy going person,
hates nobody. Omar is a sad Arab. You'd think he'd like them both.
One for being Aryan, the other for being Arab. To me, the simplest,
Ockham rule, answer is...compassus is KRAZY!
Also, nice to see Xrandadu Hutman likes Bloomsbury. Nice to have
all the nazis in a bunch. Ignore them as a category (Hint:
Xanthro)
you seem to be wound a little tight for the letters section...try a padded cell somplace instead.
bloomsbury: "XH you've allowed yourself to stray into 'how many bulldozers dance on the head of a pin' territory. Anyone operating a bulldozer is expected not to kill people. There's such a thing as taking reasonable care not to do it and all this talk about mounds of dirt is just mounds of bullcrap. If you drive an enormous bulldozer at a single unarmed person standing in front of it what do you think is going to happen? Is the bulldozer going to fall to pieces? Is an angel going to appear and save the person in front of the bulldozer? No."
All good points, and I agree.
Some seem to be arguing that the driver didn't see her, or that there's "no evidence" he saw her. That is what I am arguing, and I have no idea why Xanthro thinks it's worth contradicting (my guess is he's doing it for sport or out of sheer stubbornness).
The Israeli videotape very clearly shows Corrie on a mound directly in front of the bulldozer as it is approaching from several yards away. The eyeline is such that the driver would be able to see her well above the scoop at the front of the bulldozer (nevermind that she'd previously made her presence clear to him).
This videotape corroborates the general account by EIGHT EYE WITNESSES of what happened. It doesn't corroborate the moment of impact because, as the documentary filmmaker points out in the interview, the camera mysteriously turned away just as that occurred.
So yeah, I find fault in the statement that there's "no evidence."
blomsbury: "In the end it comes back to the immoral act of demolishing someone's house because they're Palestinians and you know you can do it without legal consequences. The wrong is all on the side of the driver of the bulldozer, twiceover."
Doubly agreed.
bloomsbury: "The Israelis can't make a case of self-defense out of this, the suggestion is laughable, but the much more serious thing for Israel and Israelis themselves is not that they have no case of self-defense but that they have no rule of law. That is what the killing of Rachel Corrie really proves."
All good points.
This latter point by you has many other examples to back it up, including the numerous cases of international journalists being targeted by IDF snipers.
But I am just arguing this one point with Xanthro at the moment. It's amusing to see how far he's willing to go in just making crap up.
yala. emshi. off with you. you solemnly swear NEVER to speak to our scum again, so off with you...
WRONG
com, together + passus, a step.
NOT
com, together + pati, suffer.
Now kiss off. Enough of your sick attempt to participate. People like you have to be ignored.
be it so
as you like.
what I say
is often so
in the way of things
that make you uptight..
Only by chance did I discover today the dregs of Salon in you. Your filth will now be ignored.
Give it up. Someone like Canuckistan Bob, who has no problem contradicting himself in a single post, is not worthy of your (or anyone's) time.
Yeah, you saw that. Bizarre. And he accused me of insulting him for pointing out his preposterous assertion that he's never compared Nazi Germany to Israel when his own words were staring him and everyone else in the face. I actually thought I went pretty easy on him, but hey, don't blatantly insult my intelligence and I won't mock you.
I enjoy many of your posts, Jonathan. You cut to the quick and slice through some of the more inane crap posted here. Although I disagree when you call Rachel Corrie "stupid." There's a fine line at times between idealism and stupidity, and some of those ISM folks certainly cross it, but she died and I can't be vindictive toward someone -- letters or not -- who can't answer for herself. She wasn't evil, I know that. But you live in Israel, so it's tough for me to judge. If Palestinians can get cut slack for blowing up pizza parlors and Passover services (and then some) Israelis who've had to live with all that can get cut some slack for calling someone stupid. But I won't do it. It's not in me.
And you're right, I often feel as if I'm reading the letters page in Der Sturmer. Julius Streicher would have felt right at home reading some of these posts.
Finally, I'll say the name, Layla Ali Taha. Not as famous as Rachel Corrie, but just as dead. Google her and see what you come up with. And then ask why her death rates only 249 hits and Rachel Corrie merits 392,000.
As always, when a Palestinian is killed and there's not an Israeli involved, no one really cares. Not as sexy or PR worthy. Maybe the ISM should send some volunteers to Baghdad.
