Madonna? I'm ready

Forget Guy! Forget A-Rod! All the reasons why the Material Girl and I should be together are made clear in "Filth and Wisdom," her likable, trivial directing debut.

The first time I've laughed out loud

Kudos to Mr. O'Hehir. I've been enjoying his prose and his take on films for quite a while. Today is the first time a review has made me laugh out loud, and more than once. (In fact, I laughed so much that it woke the dogs from their late-morning naps.)

Being gay and not inclined toward female impersonation, I've never been caught in Madonna's allure. I liked her music well enough when I was dancing to it in the late '70's into the '80's. The woman who has been performing under that name over the last decades has so little resemblance to the original that a case might be made that in fact a golem has been stalking the world under her name, surviving on a combination of brilliant marketing, serial plastic surgery, the bodily fluids of young men and the flesh of Malawian toddlers.

Madonna asked me to ask you

Can you hit in the clutch?

If you know what she means.
