  • Jesus in Seoul

If you get the subway around Seoul ... in the sections where it is elevated ... you can see all the neon crucifixes atop the Christian owned office buildings. It's a cool sight in the early evening because the smog is so thick. One reason Christian missionaries were so successful in Korea is that most Buddhist temples are outside the cities, nestled in forested hills. In Thailand, Japan or Taiwan (all of which have had a strong US presence)Buddhism is more urban, and temples are more integrated into communities. The Catholic missionaries opened churches inside cities and became quite involved in various social justice movements, from the labour movement to anti-corruption drives, etc. Another reason for the attraction to Christianity in South Korea may be that it is divided country, and the split between good and evil (less pronounced in Buddhism) may have a more visceral appeal in such an environment.

Sounds like a good movie and would like to see it. Generally, though Korean men are quite inept in bed, in my experience.
