Sometimes titles are changed to avoid legal problems involving other films that have been released in that country with the same or similar name. There is a 1984 teen comedy by that name; perhaps that's the issue.
I just have one question: How can a blow job lead to a quarrel? Especially four times?
I saw her layout in Oui magazine -- Playboy's brief experiment with a more-revealing challenge to the threat posed by Penthouse in the seventies -- a few years after it was published, and was instantly smitten. I had weird taste for an American teenager at the time. I preferred Nastassia Kinski to Heather Thomas; Laura Antonelli to Heather Locklear. Uschi reminded me a little of Maria Schneider -- another favorite.
Later, after I'd moved to NYC's Lower East Side, one of my roommates shared my fascination with Uschi. Neither of us knew anything about her, aside from that layout in Oui. At one point, we had her photos taped to the walls. (We took those down after a mutual friend's girlfriend visited our apartment and told us how "adolescent" we were, though we were adolescents.)
Last year, a friend in LA, where I now live, called one night to invite me to a screening. The movie concerned "some model" who'd romanced a lot of rock stars in the seventies. I had work to do and begged off. Next day I called to ask about the screening. Oh, he said, it was great, and its subject was on hand. She was indisputably the hottest woman in the room, even though she must be close to sixty. Her name, he said, was Uschi.
I was, of course, floored. It couldn't be! But it was.
My friend, younger than I am, is so hip he makes the East Village/Williamsburg hipsters I knew in my late teens and twenties look like squares. So, naturally, are many of the people surrounding him. Uschi, still no slouch in the hip department (and now an LA resident), had hit it off with them. They remain in touch.
To date, I've never met her. It's probably best that I don’t. It’s tough to figure out what to say in such cases. Or maybe nothing is said. Either way, I’ve come to learn, the result is usually disappointing.
But it's good to know that the Uschi movie, by whatever name, has found an American distributor.
