A few more comers
I agree wholeheartedly on the addition of Vincent D'Onofrio (especially for The Whole Wide World) and David Strathairn (who reveals something ineffable in Limbo, Passion Fish, and Good Night, and Good Luck). They both really heat me up, but I think the real reason they sizzle is not some nebulous hotness they might possess, but rather their talent for showing the camera their vulnerability, their all-too-human pain.
A few more comers:
Benicio del Toro (irresistible in Excess Baggage)
Tony Leung (smoulders in In the Mood for Love, 2046, Infernal Affairs and Hero)
Bill Murray (for his revealing humanity in Groundhog Day, Lost in Translation, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou)
William H. Macy (as a doomed lover in The Cooler, he is devastating)
Ron Perlman (for his monstrous nobility and inhuman humanity in Hellboy and The City of Lost Children)
Chris Cooper (excels at portraying damaged men in Adaptation, American Beauty and Lone Star)
Independent filmmakers, give these amazing actors some more leading roles! History will thank you.
P.S. On a side note: Howard Dean. Inspiring, intelligent straight-shooter with a twinkle in his eye. When you're in the room with him, you feel his animal magnetism. I'm just saying.
