Why just US eligibility? Canada is only a few feet away for most of you... Oh well.
What is the real goal of this contest? To find undiscovered artists? If so, then just what does "never-released" mean?
It seems to me that many songwriters have uploaded their songs to MySpace or other site to get some exposure. Does this constitute releasing a song? It shouldn't, because most of these uploaded songs get pretty tiny exposure in reality.
I can understand asking that the song no longer be available for download other than at Salon, but to disqualify possibly great songs that have seen minimal public exposure from previous uploads seems to defeat the purpose of the contest, and contrary to how many good unknown artists operate today.
It's too bad you can't cross sections of this document out to make it more fair.
