Oscar castrates himself

The Academy celebrates niceness, bleeps out "bitch" and pats itself on the back for good behavior. And what did they do to poor Jon Stewart?

Stephanie Zacharek for next year's Oscars Please!

Um...in my letter regarding Cintra, (about 10 pages ago) I omitted to mention about Steph. As far as Salon.com reviewers go, she is unquestioningly the best. Generally I hate critics and make up my own mind about what I want to watch. However, Steph's articles are insightful, perceptive and (truly) witty. I find it eerie how closely she sometimes echoes my opinions on movies.

As to Cintra, well, y'know...read my previous post. "Nuff said.

And as for Dahlia on Black Women Should be Outraged...What the hell? Are you trying to start something? I'm sick of people who mention Black women as if they're some sort of alien species or the "backward" cousin no one talks about at family gatherings. Black women chose not to be at the Oscars 2006 because there were no categories that they felt pertinent to them this year.

Black women have nothing to be ashamed about. That they may be underrepresented in the media is this country's sad loss, as they are some of the most beautiful women on earth. I went to school with some girls who ( with no makeup, or artificial lighting, designer clothing or boob jobs) made your jaw drop. Thank God I grew up to be beautiful as well, because back then, I felt I didn't compare.

This debate is entertaining. Carry on...
