Oscar castrates himself

The Academy celebrates niceness, bleeps out "bitch" and pats itself on the back for good behavior. And what did they do to poor Jon Stewart?

it's fun to read about something silly

like the Academy Awards. I understand this sentiment from an earlier post:

129 letters so far on the Oscars. 51 on the issue of impeaching buschco. Time to take Belushi's advice and start drinking heavily.

Frankly, I want a break from reading news I feel powerless to control. I vote, I talk, I contribute when I can, but the news is a constant assault on my politics, principles and values. I kinda looked forward to coming home tonight and reading about the Academy Awards.

That said, I left the room about a third of the way through the program, and trotted back occasionally to watch when something grabbed my attention.

I was disappointed by Cintra Wilson's total dismissal of the program. I was looking forward to some pointed sarcasm, not plain dismissal coupled with a surprising lack of humor. I usually enjoy reading Wilson.

And I've never enjoyed Camille Paglia. I find her logic lacking, and her opinions are silly. She's viewed as a voice of feminism, but she's an anachronism. So I chose to not listen to her coverage - kept me from getting annoyed.

Oh well, I'm too verbose as usual. Hope some of you had fun with the award show, anyway, and found the coverage you seek elsewhere. Try www.defamer.com - I haven't checked it today!
