did no one inform you that the oscars are actually (gasp!) totally irrelevant? to everything that goes on in this world? and so it makes little difference what jon stewart did or didn't do?
what was he supposed to do? sit behind a desk and do a bit about the election? that would have really worked the crowd, let me tell you.
oscar night is about hollywood jerking its collective self off. the host is there to be unassuming. i expected a fair amount of backlash regarding his performance, because nothing an oscar host does is right, unless they're bob hope. but what i want to ask people is just what the hell was he supposed to do that would have satisfied you? my suspicion is that you wanted a mini daily show. unfortunately, the best place for jon to do the daily show is on the daily show, so instead he did this weird thing called 'hosting the oscars', and he did a fine job of hosting the oscars, stupid as that gig may be.
p.s.
something to keep in mind--this article (and my response)? means as much as the oscars do.
keep on rocking in the free world!
