Dancing as fast as she can

Madonna cannibalizes herself in a misguided attempt to appeal to today's youth. Who is she becoming? The crazed Joan Crawford of "Torch Song"? The pathetic Bette Davis in "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane"? Charo?

The letters thread is now closed.

not bad company in your quote

Joan Crawford in Torch Song.....Bette Davis in What ever happened to Baby Jane..Charo....2 are performances of the best actresses around...even though we know your not talking of the 2 actors..you are talking about the crazy characters they play....and Charo....do you know she is one of the most talented Flaminco Guitar players in the world?? Fuck you for not noticing talent....just because you are "too Intellectual for dance music"..and whats misguided about trying to connect with a younger audiance...and i hate to tell you...according to my niece....they play Madonna in the clubs with the 21 years olds..and they STILL flock to the dance floor every time she is played...she is considered retro hip..whatever that means....Who is she becoming??..after watching some of her in interviews lately..id say she is becoming quite a good human being...once you do some good for others, in the way you make them feel, financially, giving to music programs, fighting for AIDS, Trying to get people to Vote to make a differnce like Madonna Does...maybe then you start Judging someone as to who they are becoming....Camille..I feel sorry for you. After reading your Madonna Rant.....its you who are becoming pathetic.

um....Camille..lets stop the hate

camille..people get older....deal with it..your older..im older and Madonna is older....FACT is that Madonna still has legions of fans...and every time I read that she is irrelevant i have to chuckle..your writing a 3 page article, and she is irrevelant?? My My...her album is again #1 and she is Irrelevant?? ok...hmmmm....she will tour again this summer..have another huge success under her belt..and still be irrelevant?? Can you please explain this to me???...I cant wait to see her open the grammys again this year..have everyone talking about her performance....yet she is still irrelevant...I enjoy some of your writings,,,but come on..if you are being real..you know your way off base here...lets all age with some dignity ok??

Camille....please be a little more objective in your writing

we get it Camille..you hate Madonna....but to give her a bad review because you hate her is unfair.....I have to say ive been looking for bad reviews of her most recent album :"confessions on a dance floor" and im hard pressed to find any...Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, Billboard, NY POST, LA Times, Chicago Tribune, etc....all give the album stellar reviews....I have to admit..I like Madonnas deeper songs (Oh Father, Papa Dont Preach, Promise to Try, Live to Tell, ..but my favorite is her song on Erotica about AIDS...she is the only artist i can think of that has tackled AIDS, the Death of her mother, the absence of her Father (in her youth), Abortion, all these tough subjects...so I was a bit tentative in buying a "Disco Album"....but after Listening to catchy songs like Hung UP, Jump, Sorry, and Let It Will Be....im glad i did...i cant take it out of my CD player...I have to really disagree with you on this album...its one of the best out at this time of such bad news (Bush, Katrina, War in Iraq, Tsunami)...and its just fun to enjoy life and dance every now and again.

Madonna live.....this woman still has it

Madonna is still hot...she looks great..still is making great music, but its her intellect that has impressed me the most lately...the new documentary is very insightful....into her life, her children...and what is important in life...I have to admit that her last concert...she was amazing live...she can command a stage like no one else..you cant take your eyes off her...no wonder she has been around for over 2 decades....there is something about this woman (no...its not just her reinvention/marketing)..its her soul....and energy...and uniqueness..and just plain old FUN...every time this woman goes on concert..its the #1 concert of the year....after attending this one...i know why.

I have to clear a few blatant lies from Roger Friedman up from Fox news

Roger- lets clear a few of your lies up front-

I am a 42 year old Woman who has been a long time Madonna fan...so are my 2 daughters and many of their 16 year old friends...I was at 3 of the Madison Square Garden concerts of the 6 that Madonna Sold out...so to say that 1...nobody was moved is a lie...all i saw were people of all backgrounds (gays, straights, women, teenagers etc)...that could not take their eyes off of Madonna and stood and danced the entire concert....so to say no one was moved when she sung john lennon is a blatant lie....I could feel the emotion in the room..it was palpable...2. Gays are NOT the only Madonna fans...to say that mostly gays is an untruth...there were many girls and straight women at the concert....and to say there were empty seats is another lie...funny that were at the same concert..and there was not an empty seat in the house...3. her career died 13 years ago..hmmm...Ray of Light, Music, American Life and now Confessions all came out in the past 13 years...3 of the 4..well ok...4 of the 4 were commercial success..oh..thats right...American Life only went Platinum...what a failure..it was only another #1 album...any other artist would give there right arm for such a failure..FACT is that album has many great songs (NOT american life)...but Nothing Fails, Extatic Process, Love Profusion and Easy Ride being among them....4. Mariah Carey is the new queen of pop and 8 grammy nods proves it? Since when....Mariah had NO competition this year....her album sucks...she is trashy and cant fit into the gowns she chooses to wear..i find her classless...and SHE cant dance!!!! She came back after her nervous breakdown after Glitter...good for her....but that hardly makes her the queen of pop...my daughters are having quite a laugh now...5. Madonna is not relevant..im glad you are able to regurgitate the New york Times article..funny how someone so Irrelevant can keep having #1 albums after 20 some years...Madonna is agreat role model..ambitios, smart, intelligent, talanted....her love of music, dance and now she can play the guitar...oh..and Madonna recd a full dance scholarship and attended the Alvin Ailey dance studio in New York...I guess you missed her on stage when you went to the concert..she is a very very good dancer...her appearance on David Letterman singing Tell Me proved she can sing...i was choked up watching her and just a guiter...no background vocals...6. Madonna has never been groundbreaking??? Are you frickin serious....this is almost too good to pass up...She ONLY knows how to promote herself?..yet again..reguritated BS....and you ONLY know how to be a critic i guess?...madonna is much more consistant than Mariah....#1 album after #1 album...she is always being talked about...Mariah will disappear for awhile and come back...you cant keep a pop crown doing that...Im sure your homophic comment about gay people only living in gay discos has some deep seeded hatred somehow..i wont even go into that...Madonna is relevant because ET, and television Mention her name almost every show...she is relevant because she has her pulse on what is hot...and she is a great dance, good singer, talented song writer...and after watching "im going to tell you a secret"..a good human being concerned with others...her performace at both the most recent LIVE AID and after the Tsunami proves she has a social conscience....and you contradict yourself..if you and Camille no longer think she is relevant..yet here you are writing about her...proves that!!!! I cant wait until you write about her some more....just to show how irrelavant she is....
