  • MARGIE JOSEPH

i listened to Margie Joseph. suffice to say, we now know where Tina Turner got her phrasing.

  • um... Porco Rosso's kind of old news, isn't it?

I watched Porco Rosso quite a while ago, why is it newsworthy?

Worth watching, yes, pick of this particular week, why?

  • My indie is way more obscure than your indie

The greatest lost track of all time:

    The Late Greats' "Turpentine"

You can't hear it on the radio

You can't hear it anywhere you go

The best band will never get signed

    K-Settes starring Butcher's Blind

Are so good, you won't ever know

They never even played a show

You can't hear 'em on the radio

The greatest singer in rock and roll

    Would have to be Romeo

His vocal chords are made of gold

He just looks a little too old

The greatest lost track of all time:

    The Late Greats' "Turpentine"

I can't hear it on the radio

    I don't hear it anywhere I go

The best song will never get sung

The best life never leaves your lungs

So good, you won't ever know

I never hear it on the radio

Can't hear it on the radio

  • Best Suvivor season ever? Say what???

Since when does a season where three people dropped out of the game voluntarily add up to the best ever? This season had too many players who should never have been on in the first place. They played up "Jonny Fairplay" in the promos but he was thankfully sent home first, after asking to be voted out. Fact is he is a one trick pony and could not even be a convincing villain this time around.

Sure, blindsiding Ozzy and then Jason after they both failed to play thier immunity idol was a cool move, but it hardly makes up for skilled players managing the game to their advantage. The tables will turn soon.

  • Porco Rosso!

I'm a huge Miyazaki fan, and Porco Rosso is my favorite. The movie is beautiful, funny, poignant, lyrical, you name it. Thanks, Laura.

To a previous letter writer, it's never to late to discover (or re-discover) a classic. 1992 is more recent than the 1970s, no?

  • Survivor

Reality tv, court tv, etc is all about watching people shame themselves ...... those who watch are painfully aware of their own shame and darkness and seek to find comfort in those who publicly display theirs ....... signs of a declining empire.

  • Marge Joseph

Listening to samples from the 1970s and then 1999: pleasant, very decent phrasing, but no particular depth of sound to carry the material, engage the listener. Reminds me of a lead for the B side of a hit group's 45, or the filler when the lead singer takes a song break.
