The Fix

China gets its first gay TV show. The Wal-Mart spy story. Plus: McGraw tops the charts, J.Lo in at No. 10.

The letters thread is now closed.

Collecting babies

Didn't Angelina Jolie adopt a baby last week or something? Is this another one? I'm all for adopting babies in need but going around the world collecting them like they were souvenirs is getting a little weird ("ooh! let's get a matching black one!") And of course, using them to build up your madonna image in order to further your career is really nauseating.

Highlighting -- for what?

I agree with your statements, flicker87; the highlighting really isn't necessary. I also truly enjoy reading The Fix but I can make up my own mind about what is important and what is not. I had a professor in college that told us not to use highlighters because makes the other text seem unimportant--I agree with this view. Keep up the good work but knock off the highlighting!

Highlighting

I agree that the random highlighting is extremely irritating and an affront to my personal judgement and taste, as if I need someone else to tell me what I like or should think is important.

It would be nice for that highlighting to go away, but please wait until April 10th because I would like you to highlight The Alternate Routes appearance on the Conan O'Brien Show on April 9th. That's real good stuff right there, trust me on this one.

Thank you!

random highlighting

I love "The Fix" -- a great concise recap of the days gossip. Perfect lunch reading.

HOWEVER, one thing that drives me nuts is the highlighting of certain text in the "Turn on"/"Talk" sections. Who is doing that over there at Salon? Knock it off! Is that really necessary? Do you think I'll skip that one line if you don't highlight it?

First of all, it's arbitrary. Whatever gets highlighted is almost never the "highlight" of the list of what's on (according to me, whose arbitrary opinion is just as valid).

Second of all, it just looks stupid on the page.

Thanks for the summary of who is on the talk shows. Don't worry, I'll read each line. You don't have to highlight what you think is good. Trust me, we don't all have the same taste as you.

I know it's a dumb thing to nitpick over, but I just can't stand it. Is anybody with me on this??

Am I the only one

Who is sick to death of hearing about Angelina Jolie and her incessant baby-adopting, do-gooder crap?

Oooh, they so care about the poor ravaged by Katrina that they bought a house in NO. A $3 million dollar house. Let them eat cake!

And Brad Pitt seems like such a pathetically whipped buffoon, Jennifer Aniston is well shut of him.

I've said it before but it needs repeating

Angelina is as beautiful as she in a little bit nuts. Her obsession with adopting children might be coming from a very good place but I still think she's weird. With this next adoption they will have five children under the age of what... 5. What is the rush? peculiar.

The Lemonade Stand

George Clooney has just given me yet another reason to respect him immensely.
