The Fix

Paris Hilton attacked by kinkajou. Dobson offers Gibson support. Plus: "Liquids on a Plane," the movie?

A comedy show in his hotel room. . .

So Screech was mugged and maced after a comedy show in his hotel room. . .gee, I just wouldn't have slept with him again.

A man, or two, in deep denial

The really important thing here, he stressed, is that neither Gibson's drunken speeding nor his anti-Semitic outburst has anything to do with "one of the finest films of this era," "The Passion of the Christ."

The film and the drunken driving and the outburst are all manifestations of a deeply troubled man, probably tormented by his domineering father, the rabid Holocaust denier.

That's why Mel made a movie about a man who was brutally sacrificed by his divine father.

Almost all his movies have been about tormented, troubled, violent men, and I suspect there's a highly demanding, crazed father lurking in the backstory of almost every character he's ever played.

The force that made him an emotionally compelling actor is also the force that made him do The Passion and drink to wretched excess and say untrue and unfair things about Jews and almost kill people sleeping in their homes along the PCH.

Mel needs six months of court-ordered rehab with therapy and peer counseling for men struggling to define themselves in the shadow of controlling demented fathers.

...and kill for Buddha!

Stephen Baldwin, in his forthcoming book, on his newfound mission in life: "God has called me to go and make disciples of the youth of America. That is what I am going to do. And if you try to stop me, I am going to break your face."

Yeah, Jesus was all like that too, with the threats of violence. On SOUTH PARK maybe.

Can we please invent a new term for people who claim to be Christians but prefer to ignore the teachings of Jesus in preference for Old Testament-style vengeance and violence? Be like Jesus if you call yourself 'Christian'. Otherwise, you're, I dunno, aJehovist or Old Testamentarian or something. Just leave Jesus Christ out of it.

Baby Suri

I agree, those images don't provide "truly compelling evidence" as you say... but do you really want the truth? Can you handle it?

Bio-Christian?

I can't believe that the actor best known for simulating a tongue kiss with Paulie Shore now thinks he can bring people to Christ. Kind of like going to Bill and Ted's Excellent Tent Revival.

What is up with those Baldwins that they feel a need to behave like this?

The truth about Baby Suri

Has it occurred to anyone else that Suri is The Baby in David Lynch's "Eraserhead" come to life? It's my belief that this the reason that TomKat is shielding her from the public view.

New term for bogus "Christians"

How about bringing this term into the lexicon to describe these hypocrites: X-tians.

paris hilton

I wish that everyone would just please, thank you, FINALLY, lay off Ms Hilton. She is not just A but THE cultural icon of the times. A goddess of millenium American (and indeed WORLD) society, that by her every word, deed, and thought, (well word and deed anyway) exemplifies her, and our, lives and world. She is the Pericles of this age, the Shakespeare, the Spinoza, the Twain and Wright (brothers AND Frank Lloyd), the Valentino and Garbo, the Van Doren(Charles AND Mamie) and Monroe, the Frampton and Manilow, the Speares, Kimmel, and Lohan.

Hmm...OK I admit to observing a disturbing trend here, but STILL-this young woman has made of herself, perhaps, as her predecessors, with a small amount of inadvertant media help, a GIANTESS of contemporary history. She simply should not have to get down on all fours and beg (or whatever) for the respect her achievements have rightfully earned her.

things I did not know

"»» The tongue of a kinkajou measures about 5 inches in length and is used to lap up nectar and insects, which the animal eats."
