Oh, the irony...

If anyone at Michelle Williams' school had seen the film, and particularly her character, they might have had a different reaction. After all, hers was a character with whom they might have sympathized: a straight woman who just wanted to raise a family and for whom her husband's love affair with another man was more devastating than an affair with a woman could possibly have been. She played that part wonderfully, bringing home the point that what the men did had consequences for the women they kept in the dark.

But, then, they probably weren't interested in thinking too hard about the human issues...

Brokeback: Sheer hypocrisy

Let's see... Absolutely no one in the world cares about what grade school Michelle Williams went to. No one!

If the director of the school hadn't come forward with the announcement that Michelle Williams went to his school, then no one would know, or care, and therefore would not be able to draw any conclusions about what is taught by the school. Why? Because they just wouldn't know, or care. It's really a simple concept.

But the director come forward for the sole purpose of telling the world information they didn't know or care about in order to plug his school. Why? Because Michelle Williams is a celebrity, and even though we don't approve of them un-Godly Hollywood types, were not above leeching off a bit of reflected glory for free advertising, even if our whole purpose in stealing that glory is to abuse an ex-student shamelessly for our own selfish purpose, then using our undeserved access to the public forum to deliver a message to shallow-minded parents out there that if they want to raise a bigoted homophobe then Santa Fe Christian school is the place for them.

The hypocrisy is disgusting. I don't think this is what Jesus died for. I hope to God it's not.

Must be the cowboys

Santa Fe Christian school disowned Michelle Williams over 'Brokeback Mountain' because, according to the headmaster, it doesn't reflect the school's values and promotes a lifestyle the school doesn't wish to promote. A quick look at the school's web site to try and determine what values and what lifestyle he's talking about reveals that for its spring musical, Santa Fe Christian is staging the gay icon 'Hello Dolly'. All of which begs the question: Who is Jim Hopson and what does he have against cowboys.

Scott Stapp is Angry?!?

Isn't this the most publicity he's ever gotten? He used to be "that guy from that one band that's kinda christiany, kinda grungy, all cheesy." Now, he at least has a first name. He should pay those hookers 10% of his solo album sales.

Michelle Williams

So I guess Santa Fe Christian didn't have a problem with Michelle Williams playing a lesbian in HBO's "If These Walls Could Talk 2"? Wait...is this an all-girl Christian school? Oh, the stories I could tell about church camp...

"Brokeback" star rebuked...

Pathetic...As if the work Michelle Williams does has anything to do with who and how she is in real life. The President of the United States ordered the attack of a sovereign nation yet no one wants to hold him accountable. Williams does a beautiful job portraying a CHARACTER in a FICTIONAL television series and a FICTIONAL movie, and she's crucified by these hypocrites.

The word of God?? My goodness...I am certain the word of God was not to murder and maim thousands of innocents for those precious drops of oil... Again, where are the loudmouthed hypocrites like this lunatic religious cult...err...school leader when we really need someone holding the president accountable? He and his ilk are a disgusting excuse for the worst type of sub-human monster that ever crawled the face of the earth. I have had it.

And by the way, Mr. Stapp, take solace...I wouldn't even give your sex tape the time of day, because I couldn't see enough of the goods to get all riled up about it. Next time, show us a little more skin, and then whine about your little bits and pieces showing up on the net.

Typical San Diego

I am not surprised in the least that Santa Fe Christian is having a fit over Michelle Williams and "Brokeback Mountain." That is very typical of the divisive and hate-centered type of religion that is espoused in these parts. "Love only those that are like you." It's just a movie, people. Do you think God would approve of YOUR decision to shun Williams and the movie just because you are in disagreement? I think not. And to imagine that these kind of people are teaching young children...

Elton John Single

This is nitpicky, but the Elton John single with Candle in the Wind 1997 was "Something about the way you look tonight," not "You look wonderful tonight." I'm sure Eric Clapton would want that cleared up...

Jack Wild

Jack Wild actually played the Artful Dodger in Oliver! He was best known to many a post-boomer as Jimmy, the magic-flute-carrying moppet from Sid and Marty Kroft's H.R. Pufnstuf.
