The Fix apparently does not understand the Daily Show's news cycle. The show tapes in the afternoon so Stewart's coverage of the SOTU will be Tuesday night. Unless there's a live show that's not annouced on Comedy Central's website.
Why is Jake Gyllenhaal nominated as a supporting actor? He had almost as much screen time as Heath Ledger. This doesn't make sense and skews the category.
In a dark twist of irony most of you won't get, Paradise Now was filmed in Israel by an Israeli company because the PLO attempted to blow up the film location in the West Bank. So technically the film could have been submitted and therefore ignored, as an Israeli entry.
Besides, Stewart said on the last show that tonight they will be airing their tribute to Alan Greenspan. I expect Ayn Rand jokes by the bushelful.
I'm not sure how the Daily Show could possibly have anything about the actual State of the Union address.
They will have finished taping long before the address will air.
Stephen, you are mistaken about Paradise Now. It was filmed almost entirely in the West Bank city of Nablus, not in Israel, and the PLO did not attempt to blow up the film location. In fact, filming was interrupted by both Israeli missle strikes nearby and by Palestinian gunmen who harassed the crew.
Since none of the movie was filmed in Israel, nor was the cast and crew Israeli, I fail to see how it could have been submitted as an Israeli entry.
How strange a feeling, to see news of Wendy Wasserstein's passing as an addendum to the celebrity gossip sheet. The world has lost an incredible talent.
It was filmed for the most part in Nazareth. The setting was Nablus. Movies are like that.
...I second that emotion. I felt the same way when last week when Chris Penn died.
Oh, and to anyone who cares, Senator Brownback (isn't that a type of venomous spider??) is dead wrong about Sweden. It is one of the most progressive and compassionate societies on earth, which would explain the senator's antipathy.
I can't believe nobody thought of this movie pun yet... "Brownback Mountain"
Or have I been asleep?
