The Fix

Martha nearly fired the Donald? Was Kate Moss set up? Plus: Nobody -- not even "Boondocks" creator -- messes with Oprah!

Oprah is more than fair game

As someone who enjoys the "Boondocks" thoroughly and is increasingly skeptical of Oprah's motives: I believe she is fair game. Oprah has had the opportunity to become a real mogul for social justice and influence during the past three election cycles, but she remained loyal to her billion dollars instead. She has reached the limit of her show's potential and now serves as a billboard for car manufacturers and Hollywood actors, and was a lauchpad for Dr. Phil. I thought she would have done more to be a political force, but instead she moved to the back of the bus. I would have thought that a women with as much power and money as herself would throw her hat into acts of true social justice rather than serve as a t.v. hack.

She is fair game because she no longer remains loyal to her roots, but rather she follows her advertising dollars, the needs of her production company, and the almighty dollar. This are all distractions from the poverty and hardships that millions of Americans face today. A family a day is no longer the best way to attack at the problem. Oprah could solve real problems if she were to attack the failed policies of political parties and failed administrations. She has enough money and time to do so....all she needs is the will.
