Why is "Sgt. Pepper" so overhyped?
  • Did they pay arnold money for this tripe

Gina was maybe 6 or seven when Pepper came out and was still a junior girl scout when the 60's were dead and gone. this would e irrelevant if she had discerning ears and native intelligence and curiosity about music. As her old East Bay Express music columns proved week after week, she has no knowledge of or ability to understand music -- other than Kurt Cobain, which she fails to understand in this weak attempt.

There is a very good reason that she rarely if ever writes anymore and is back teaching diving at a high school. that is she is not a even passably good rock critic and only had here weekly column for so long because she was so universally hated -- and that sells papers as the chronicle proves with its vaziri crap week after week. salon is great for political reporting and perhaps it should bag its music section if it can do no better than Gina Arnold.
