Spare my weewee

David, uh, are we done with the novelty numbers?

Abner Jay

I haven't listened to this song yet (still downloading), but I have an old LP of Jay's--it has two 9 minute long songs on one side and one is the haunting "Cocaine Blues." The album is in the other room--title is something like "Swanee River" because Jay claimed that drinking the water kept him young. According to the handwritten liner notes, "20 years younger than you think he is." I always thought his amateurish, reedy voice added verisimilitude and pathos to "Cocaine Blues" especially. However, reading the other letter here about novelty acts makes me think that a song about his wee wee might not have the same resonance.
