Look, I'm a pretty savvy guy. I'm sure I could figure out this "podcasting" software if I needed/wanted to.
To be honest though, I'd rather be reading an interview with Amy Sedaris than tutoring myself on the newest free software that I need to make my computer accomplish tasks for which no new software should be necessary.
Why not host an mp3 or streaming feed of the interview in addition to the podcast? Or transcribe the interview so those who would prefer not to listen, or don't happen to find themselves in an environment conducive to audio might also be able to enjoy it.
Really like to listen to this, but since I don't have any desire to download/install new software and subscribe to the whole series I appear to be out of luck. Is there any way to just download this one episode and listen to it? The listening part I have handled, but I cannot seem to find a straight forward link to an mp3 file.
what a sweet and open-hearted artist. if i possessed a fraction of her vulnerability, what oceans i could move!
The link to download the audio isn't working. It doesn't launch iTunes and the Salon: Conversations feed cannot be found in the iTunes Podcast directory. Also, there are errors in the rss feed that prevent it from parsing in both IE and Firefox. Copying the link into iTunes manually doesn't work either. The feed needs fixin'.
Would love to hear this interview. Has Salon considered an audio link that we can just listen to in the browser or download if we wish?
Please sort this out. Thanks.
Watch her on Letterman. She's a gas on there. He's so in love with her and she always brings her A game.
So I can't listen to the conversation.
If you will just direct link, MANY of us who can't download software can listen to your podcasts. You did it for the first couple of your interviews--what made you stop?
Same problem here. I'll bet most of us complaining about this are at work. Every time I try to download one of the programs I could play this interview on, the computer tells me I have to load it on an administrator's computer. Like I'm going to do that.
I love Amy Sedaris. I was just telling a co-worker who doesn't stay up late how much Letterman and Conan love her and then I find someone else has said the same thing here about Letterman. And with Conan she is one of the few guests who can keep him from constantly pulling the focus back to himself.
P.S. I really do get my work done. Summer in this office is just a little slow ... thank goodness.
There are two different links - one that links to the (apparently) non-working in iTunes RSS feed, and another specifically for iTunes. The iTunes specific link does work (with iTunes). Aren't the standards of the interwebs great?
(And no, I did not go out and download iTunes and install it to listen. I realized late last night that I still had iTunes installed form a few weeks ago when I was helping a friend remove iTunes from her computer (needed to see what she was seeing). I did listen to the interview (which was great) before removing iTunes).
Despite repeated efforts, I have not been able to play this segment. Can those of us unable (or unwilling) to download software please get a text transcript?
Some of the columnists at Salon read and respond to letters. It looks as if the Audiofile folks are too busy doing something else even to drop us a goddam note to say, "Sure, we'll get you a direct link" or "Sorry, we can't do that" or "Bite me."
From a geek with no life (using his wife's account), enjoy:

Great interview. But I'm still frustrated that I had to rely on another reader to get a working link up!
I was so disappointed with the poor audio quality of this interview.
Link!
