Original article: The mother-daughter wars

I know how she feels

Poor Rebecca. She is an adult and like so many of us with difficult mothers what she really wants is closure. Till the day she dies she will wonder what was it about her that caused them not to bond, why could her mother not be like her friends? And sadly, she will most likely never get the answer. Too many slights, missed opportunities, conversations not held, insights not shared. Her greatest fear is that she will be as wretched to her son as her mother was to her. In going public, she clearly wants Alice to respond, to justify, to settle the conflict once and for all. But is ultimately, unknowable, elusive, a mystery that only time will give her the wisdom to accept.

The Way We Were

What sucks is that three of the best actors of their generation

Robert Downey Jr., Edward Norton and Toby McGuire are reduced to acting in comic book camp due to a lack of adult material in Hollywood. What the hell has happened to the movie industry of Gable, Cagney, Bogart, Cooper, Newman and Redford. Gore Vidal once remarked that in the end the US would be remembered for one thing Hollywood. Clearly we have hit our nadir.

Nader

Nader is a rightwinger. He only attacks Democrats. His tired old routine is to go after a Democrat for his/her lack of courage in opposing corporate power. Where was Obama when it came to predatory lending? Why didn't Obama do this? Well where the hell has Nader been the last eight years. The war, FISA, Guantanamo, the Supreme Court, habeus corpus! Does anyone recall Nader having any visibility on those issues. Not a peep from the man. I do have one memory of him though, praising Prescott Bush (W's grandfather) to the skies on CNN for helping his family get a bridge in his community. Nader,s a big fan of truth in labeling. His needs to say GOP shill.

crooked teeth

We all would like a candidate with backbone, but sadly Nader only shows his every four years to imperil the chances of a Democratic nominee. Where is the criticism of the Bush administration? Why the silence? Why no criticism of the GOP Congress all those years when they were dismantling his achievements. Somehow it escaped Nader's attention that for nearly eight years some of the most powerful consumer friendly regulatory agencies were being starved of resources and left to wither and die through inaction. Did he try to mobilize the public or even write op ed columns to try to save the consumer protections he claims the public deserves? Now its time for a Presidential election and Nader wants the whole world to know he has something to say, yep, but in true Nader fashion its only its against the Democratic nominee. He wants te GOP to win its just that simple.

Original article: Is Ralph Nader losing it?

Excuse me

Up until the moment Nader decided to inject himself into this campaign he wasn't exactly and advocate for the hood or the oppressed urban minorities. He never cared about us and doesn't give a damn about us now. He only wants the publicity he can get for attacking the Democratic nominee and is playing the race card to boot. Obama acts white, he has to appear passive to appease the white man! He is disgusting. If Tim Russert were still alive, his trip out of hibernation would certainly get him yet another undeserved appearance on Meet the Press. It still might. He is a sell out and a shill for the other side.

Prissy my @#$!

You are being naive. When has Fox News ever cared about good taste? The idea that Fox, would censor anything that would cause Jesse Jackson or Obama embarrassment is ridiculous. They are simply waiting to the opportune moment to leak it.

Obama or McCain's missing two percent

Barack Obama's campaign generated record numbers of new voters African American and young voters) for the primaries. Its very possible that there is a dwindling supply of new voters with those demographics that the Obama campaign can register. The automatic assumption that all those cellphone only voters are African American, young people and loyal Democrats is false. Many of these people are working class, lower income whites and Hispanics who have given up landlines and who have not signed on to Camp Obama.

Brought it on themselves

Oh well, now the New Yorker must know how the Clinton's felt. Your past acts, history, even logic isn't enough. Its all about what people think your motivations are not about what is actually said or the context in which it is said is taken into account. Welcome to the brave new world they helped create.

They are wrong!

The Democrats did nothing this election cycle and the experts are taking Democratic wins for granted. People wanted change and they got less than that they got indifference. They don't deserve to be rewarded for doing nothing.

Original article: A tale of two campaigns

You know the reason

Joan, race is the reason Obama is loosing to the worst candidate of either party in the last 100 years. Obama's appeal was always overstated by those low attendance caucuses, the overt media bias, open primaries that allowed Republicans and independents to vote and the proportional way the Democrats select their candidates. McCain based on his performance as candidate should be retiring. I'm shocked at how poorly prepared he is.

Aint gonna happen

Joan its over. Deal with it. You don't want to become like Maureen Dowd with her Bill fixation. Stop yourself before its too late. Its time for everyone (including supporters) to let Hillary Clinton and her family have a normal life for the first time in over 20 years. For from being bitter, I suspect she might like it.
