  • Too late

Doesn't matter anymore what anyone thinks. Hillary's supporters won't vote for Obama period. I don't believe they will vote for McCain but they wont help Obama. I think a line has been crossed. They actually publicly accused a former first lady of the United States, a sitting Senator of wanting her rival Obama assasinated. And then for days they fanned the flames by sending the emails to the media and the blogs and allowing their buddies in the press to pile on while publicly pretendig to be above it all. They've gone to the well one time to often. They assumed the criticism would stampede a bunch of superdelegates into supporting Obama but it didn't happen. I just don't see the Hillary supporters turning the other cheek. Obama will get the nomination for what its worth but he's on his own for the election. He had the moral high ground and his ambition let it get away.

  • Enough

Joan, I'm with you. Only the delusional really believes this was anything but another unfortunate reference to another June primary battle. But we must win at any cost. In all this concern for Senator Obama's safety, has anyone ever once thought about Hillary Clinton's. The woman who has actually had a person try to kill her by flying a plane in her bedroom window. The person whose husband had someone take a few shots at him with an assault rifle. The person who has seen multiple people convicted for threatning her and her family. The idea that she would wish an assasination on anyone with her history is insane. I am amazed by your peers. The willingness to demonize this woman, to smear her, to see her as something less than a human being, to pile on with no restraint day after day is one of the most repulsive things I've seen in my lifetime of watching politics. So before we get one more lecture on the use of words and restraint, maybe some of your friends should look in the mirror.

  • Its amazing

Joan, take heart it’s so patently obvious that many of the people writing you with their hate filled missives are GOP trolls. Obviously, they are trying to keep this sad controversy going because the Obama campaign has nothing to gain and everything to loose by continuing to alienate Clinton supporters. I'm sure you recognize their type, the ones with the 20 or so responses. You are a breath of fresh air. If anyone doubts the level of over the top sexism and just plain Hillary hatred, spewed out by the media, look at the so called liberal New Republic blog. One column is titled is Hillary a sociopath? The other has a lead She is disgusting. This in addition to the words so many columns are using such as delusional, selfish, witch, no class. Its extraordinary, it really is.

  • To those who dish it out

Bill Clinton is a private citizen. He is free to hang out and be with anyone he chooses just like any other private citizen. He is also free to call a journalist a scumbag and sleazy, epithets the media have had no problems using to describe him. As for Ms. Fowler she is a journalist. Mr. Clinton knows that every word he says will be scrutinized just because of who he is. He has spent this entire campaign seeing things he has said in private winding its way into print so he was hardly fooled or surprised that his reaction was printed. In fact, as the public at large mostly share his views I suspect he enjoyed it immensely.

  • Get the hook!

That wasn't a speech it was more soap. Another act in a tired story that has long gone stale. I really don’t think she wants to be the Veep spot. She’s deliberately poisoned the well and made it virtually impossible for Obama to even consider her for it She should have been honest though and admitted that its either the Presidency for her or nothing. Tomorrow’s headlines will be atwitter with outrage in regards to Hillary and her selfish, spoiled, graceless behavior while overlooking the historic accomplishments of Obama. The opinion writers just can’t stop themselves from taking the bait Hillary is laying to keep the narrative going and to assist McCain. In this case the public has lost its patience. Hillary should not be rewarded for her tantrums as if she matters. Just say no to more coverage blogs just say no.

  • Joan its over

Joan, she has lost. She asked to play a man's game got treated like the worst of any man and she lost. She should be gracious, concede, and ignore the calls by the same media that dished her to go around the country defending Obama like a fanatic. She should do no more or less than any male that has lost a primary should do. Bob Herbert, gave the game plan away weeks ago on Morning Joe. He stated she should campaign forcefully for Obama even though we all know in our hearts she's not going to be sincere. So she's being set up: If she campaigns for Obama, they will claim she is not sincere and only doing it to get in the parties good graces. If she doesn't she is being a sore loser. Every word she says will be scrutinized to manufacture a scandal for the purpose of realizing the theme she is hurting Obama. She should do what Al Gore did, take some time off, redefine herself and move on. As for Obama, the fun begins.
