Bah Humbug
[Read the article: Americans more ready for a black president than a woman?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hillary Clinton is not a fair representative of how the public would feel about a woman candidate because she is atypical. She brings her celebrity status and all of her husband’s historical baggage to the table. The sad fact is that if you attack McCain you risk being accused of attacking Mr. Patriot. If you attack Obama you risk being called a racist. If you attack Hillary, you are congratulated and your column will become one of the most read in the paper and on the internet. The more bitter the attacks on her the higher the ratings and circulation. Her presence has driven the media’s coverage of the campaign to the detriment of all the important issues. I would love for her to leave the campaign but dread the endless post mortems about her future. And, I predict after a month of no Hillary, even if she moves into an igloo, the media will find her and start writing about the Hillary comeback.

Life isn't fair
[Read the article: Why Hillary Clinton should be winning]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I also have a problem with the nomination system. Its troubling to me that a person can win a caucus like Nevada or a primary state like Texas and have less delegates than the person who finishes second. I also believe caucuses are undemocratic and easily manipulated and feel the party should invest in alternative voting systems like vote by mail or the internet that would allow for greater voter participation. That said, this is the system every other Democratic nominee including Bill Clinton was elected under. No one complained about it in the past. If Mr. Obama is the nominee he will have won the nomination fair and square. It may be true Hillary would have a wide lead in delegates if she were in the GOP, but she is not in the GOP, she chose to be in the Democratic party and she knew the rules just like everybody else when the campaign began. Obama has run a better campaign and if he wins Hillary just got beat. Some things in life are not meant to be. PS. Florida and Michigan must be seated. The party should not punish loyal Democrats for the errors of their leaders. The voter participation of thousands of Democrats cannot be sacrificed on the altar of allowing two small homogenous states to keep its privileged place in the election rotation. Those voters came out to vote even when told it wouldn't matter. They are the party!

Enough
[Read the article: Why Hillary Clinton should be winning]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The utter hypocrisy on these pages on both sides is really is pathetic. Hillary Clinton had every advantage. She had an advantage in name recognition and resources. She has been involved in party politics since her early twenties. Her husband is a two time elected President and along with Chuck Robb helped invent Super Tuesday. Most of the people on the rules committee are known to her. There is no excuse for her not to understand the existing rules, recognize what Obama was doing and to not counteract it. None, so the Clintonites should stop whining. That said its ridiculous for the Obama people to keep saying Florida, broke the rules when they know full well a Republican governor and legislature moved the primary date up to cause mischief. Its insane to make thousands of loyal Democrats pay for something they had no control over just so Iowa and New Hampshire can assist the media in their role as designated gatekeeper. How anyone can believe that denying a voice to two large swing states at a convention is anything but a disaster for the party is beyond m?. McCain will have a field day with statements like, they didn’t defend Democracy in his own party so how can they defend the Country. After the election is over, the party for its own sake has got to take a long look at some of the rules that allowed an individual to loose a primary or a caucus and still get more delegates. And a long look at rules that allow Republicans and Independents to cross over and vote in a Democratic primary without changing their registration. Why not charge a small fee to the crossovers to go to the state election fund and defray the cost of the primaries? That would stop a lot of the gaming.

We tried to warn you!
[Read the article: McCain gets donuts; Obama gets likened to a terrorist]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Obama was treated shabbily, however he better get used to it. Our friends in the media have had one idea from day one -electing their guy McCain. Currently there focus is on keeping the Democrats divided as long as possilbe. Now that Hillary's almost a goner expect Obama's favorable press to end and for Obama to overnight become the racist Barack Osama.

She was right to stay in
[Read the article: Attention, pundits. It ain't over]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As Bert Lance once said, those pioneers they take all the arrows. So if Hillary goes down, she fought the good fight which is what its all about. She finished her course and made it possible that another woman vying for the Presidency years from now will have a little less hate, a lot less fear and and whole less anger to deal with.
