Racist film and book

Its a well crafted, extremely racist book and movie that I personally feel rips off the very Yankee Edith Wharton and her book the Age of Innocence. That said it should be watched and read. It reflects the times in which it was made and the attidtues of the people who lived them. It reminds us daily that in our perfect union human beings were subjegated and treated as property and this was thought normal. This should not be ignored. We are not the Pharoahs of Egypt, changing history, removing all its warts from the record because its inconvient.

She works hard for that tabloid coverage

Not to sound mean spirited, but I think she is a tabloid sweetheart because she and her publicist work hard at it. The never ending Brad, Angelina, and Jennifer coverage has always seemed a little forced fed with an emphasis on the (fed) to me.

So he aint Mr. Family values - big deal

Good for Dave for not caving in. Two consenting adults sleep together. Big deal. I'm so tired of all this speculative twaddle about those poor, helpless, widdle ladies who allegedly might have been pressured to have sex. The gals who can't say no - get the hell out of my face Dave. I want some sympathy for the gal who slept with an unmarried boss, liked it, and wants to keep her business private. It is no body's business but their own.

Joe they are not the problem

Obama's problem is not with the right wing or some of its more crazy partisans. They lost credibility and respect with the public long ago. No one wants to return to the go old days of Newt and Dancing with the Stars Tom Delay. Obama's problem is his base. The supporters who are still unemployed, seeing their houses foreclosed on and being strangled by credit card companies who are getting richer by the day. The country voted for change and is wants it sooner rather than later.

Give me a break

Joan, give me a break, when people talk about Henry 8th do they talk about the reformation, the rulings of Parliment or the six wives? Our purient interest about sex and romance will always trump serious policy initiatives anyday. Bill Clinton's refusal to discuss the issue, Monica's silence and conversion to productive citizen and the uncommon Clinton marriage only gives it more mystery. Wouldn't we all want to be a fly on the wall if Bill Clinton ever accidently ran into Monica again?

Maybe he should call Martha Burk?

The great irony in this is that the same people so outraged that Rush Limbaugh was not allowed to be part owner of the Rams are probably the biggest defenders of country clubs discriminating against people on the basis of sex, race, and religion because people should have the right to associate with whom they please. Rush Limbaugh, qualified millionaire with deep pockets found himself shut out of the club just like women and minorities frequently are in their local community clubs. Welcome to our world Rush!

Please move on

I understand your frustration with the hyper partisan media and the toll it took on the Clinton Presidency. However, don't kid yourself, Clinton could give as well as he got. The biggest wound of the Clinton Presidency was not inflicted by his critics in the press or his GOP enemies. Monica Lewinsky is the self inflicted responsibility of Bill Clinton himself.

What crap!

There is a simple way to settle the controversy, with one statement. Mrs. Obama says no way girlfriend!

Original article: A New Deal for child care

Shovel ready?

What a piddling project. How about transcontinental light rail from NY to Los Angeles. It would give the country a first class rail system. It worked for the robber barrons and the 19th century. That is if you can fight off the oil and airline industries to get it done.

Its bad folks.

Sorry, its a big deal and the media is correct to ask questions. Not only was the President and first family at risk but so was the Prime Minister of India. Can you imagine the disaster this would have been had something happened to the Indian Prime Minister, his family or members of the Indian delegation at the White House. Do the words Sarejevo ring a bell. This isn't a minor screw up. Its pretty bad.
