You sound like you're doing great and unless someone can prove you are incompetent and a hazard to yourself ( not a hazard in 20 years but right now) or other people legally , then they're just blowing smoke and trying to undermine you.

And when they bring up the topic of your health in a social setting. just say "I prefer to talk about something more uplifting ". .If they persist I would ask them what motivates them to embaress you by discussing your personal business in front of others. It almost sounds like they are hoping you fail so they can feel better about their siituation, not a good definiton of a friend.Exposure to toxic people decreases the quality of life and the stress they engender may actually shorten it.

There is an organization called Eldercare which may be able to help you with finding community resources if you ever need them in the future when you are elderly.Look them up.
