Sometimes there are no good choices

As a nurse I'd like to put in my two cents. First , you have no idea how much effort it takes to take of someone 24 hours a day. There's the cooking, the feeding, the cleaning up, the meds, the Dr, calls and appointments, the physical therapy, the physical assistence to do tasks. A hospitalization can require completely new regimens..All this day and night- you can't take time off or be unwell yourself. Many older women don't want a stranger in their home, and then there's the ongoing hiring, firing and supervising involved with in home care.

Very few older people , who are worn down themselves have the strength to match what a facility with staff can do. You'd surely have lost both parents much earlier.

Sure she could have left him back when , but chances are he would died much sooner and any money. would be eaten up by lawyers fees.( then YOU'D be paying for that N.H.).You didn't like the lying? In some was the truth would have more cruel. BTW power of attourney is to use when the other person is not capable of making the decision or is not physically there- in other words if your dad was capable of getting in a cab and going home he was free to.

She could have visited him but she didn't, thats sad and thats between them.

Lying to ourselves and each other is the way we get through life not specifc to your mom.,How many people think, the marriage will make them happy, having a child will improve the marriage, santa will get come if you're good,....

RupertC ?

Why then do teetotalers live shorter lives, per several research studies?

maybe there's something even more destructive to our system than yeast waste products that gets released with intoxication. Could it be the decrease of tension , although temporary?

Got a theory?

No one gets a pass

I think once we accept suffering is inevitible it helps tremendously. We can let go of being singled out or punished. Knowing we all suffer takes away our self consciousness about seeking another's presence or toughing out our pain.It also relieves us of needing to "fix" another's"misery. This is one of the biggest reasons people avoid those undergoing pain, we feel so helpless.. Knowing suffering is ineveitble for all beings also allows us to let go of the "specialness "we claim from suffering, and move on to preventing suffering in others through gentleness..

I think Mccain went to sleep before his speech...

Great story. So, according to your alchohol index theory Palin would have been out drinking til 4? ( Imean she's got that built in babysitter.) But then again maybe there was more blood to your brain than usual , you know with the pants being too tight and all?

then don't watch them!

I read something that Hilary said during the campaign - that basically she doesn't read the papers or blogs because it was too distracting. She had a job to do, and hating herself or another person would have been counter-productive. I also remember a story in which the black protaganist became a masseuse so she could temper the hate she felt toward whites. Up close and facing our shared frailty, its very hard to maintain hate.

I've been where you are , after Bush won in 2000. I didn't want to live with the hate and anger. I unplugged from it and threw myself into something personally rewarding , even though I continued to protest the war and, sign petitions and send money- I had to change my focus. Dial it down to 5% of your life if that will help you maintain your sanity. We can't afford to become what we hate. The only way to avoid that is to stop hating.

Would you handle hot plutonium? Same idea...

You'd be crazy to get involved. Your father is an attorney I'm sure he's quite capable of protecting himself. You need to continue the path you've chosen thus far. Getting involved legally would be a ticket into their private hell, except you'd be center ring. It's not unusual to appoint someone outside the family as guardian, especially if there is distance between family members. Believe it or not , perhaps your mother was actually protecting her children from the madness. Even if she wasn't intentionally meaning to do so , her picking an outsider gives you the legitimate right to decline, before these two collaberate to roast you for the final course of their cannabalistic frenzy.

Canada should be scared

You've got massive oil reserves. ..

Sorry you feel this way - I feel like I'm being held hostage myself. I'm just hoping the people who abducted our country will self destruct as their christian religious sects fight it out.

I'm not religious, and maybe you aren't either but pray for us. We're on a boat with deranged people at the helm....pointed into headwinds

karmas a bitch

when you've suffered as much as she did the curse will be lifted. Don't forget your pain was not inflicted on you by someone you love - you did it to your own self. On the other hand she may be handicapped from ever really trusting a man again.

You owe it to stay away from her - digest your own poison, knowing its not half as bitter what you gave her.

Ugly

And a mirror of what all women can expect if they don't toe the political line , from the left or the right. The saddest part is that a woman is mouthing all the backroom insults ever traded by men in the back room.

Why you're post is sexism at its worst

Which of these words would you use to describe a male VP?

fuckable, Stepford wife in a 'sexy librarian' costume,Nice Mommy, cutthroat Texas cheerleader stage moms., blowup doll, self-abnegating, submissive female Uncle Tommies, White House bunny, It Girl vice president, backwater beauty-pageant casualty

You can"t possibly have a daughter and believe this language is an acceptable way to disagree with a female candidates positions.

Do you ghost write for Rush Limbaugh?
