Did I somehow miss the LAX entry?
[Read the article: Ask the pilot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Did I somehow miss LAX in the WORST category? Because it certainally belongs there! It is an airport staffed by rude surly people, the nicest of which unfortunately don't seem to speak much english. The TSA lines are out the door, and slow slow slow. Finding your terminal/connection or trying to navigate from international to domestic is a nightmare.
There is a shuttle, but its always overcrowded and I have yet to figure out its schedule. Your best bet is to walk across the sketchy parking lot in the centre to try and get from one terminal to the next. If you're lost thats too bad because there is practically no one to help you. I say practically because the last 2 times I've been there, there was a group of people helping people find their terminals... Christian Missionaries looking for money. I felt bad so paid them a dollar for their help, but honestly... can't they get airport STAFF to help people? How about a MAP?
Don't even get me started on long customs lines and customs officials who don't seem to speak English. Its truly a shame that this is what so many people flying from countries across the pacific expirience as their first foray into America. The best part are the two giant framed photos of Bush and Cheney that greet international visitors.
Ugh LAX. When will the Melbourne to America route start going through San Fran? The day won't be soon enough.

What's Blogger Then?
[Read the article: Why MySpace is for freaks and Facebook is for preps]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If facebook is for preps and Myspace is for the ghetto, then who is Blogspot for? Or does that say more about my AGE than social status?
At the end of the day, facebook started off as a college students only site, so it makes sense that most of the users (even though it is now open access) are college educated. Myspace was first populated by teenagers, not college students, and its current demographics and (totally hideous) design reflect that.
Personally I hate both facebook and myspace, because I find the idea of a 'social networking' site bizzare. Who cares how many friends you have linked to your Myspace... Do you really know all those people and keep in touch with them? Does it make you cooler to have more contacts listed on facebook? I'm sorry, but I can honestly say I don't get it.
Theres been a LOT in the media about facebook/Myspace lately, but they aren't really anything new. Before them we had livejournal and blogger (better sites by far than myspace imo), and before that we had personal webpages, and before THAT we had bulletin board systems...
And yeah, myspace is ugly (not so much because people muck around with HTML as they use flashing hotpink text and its full of adverts) and mostly full of sad teenagers with too much angst. Facebook is boring and full of beer-swilling students. And the Internet is full (mostly) of people who just want to look up porn. Anyone want to give me a research grant to tell you more about that?

annoying people are everywhere
[Read the article: I work with the most annoying man alive]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm not really sure what the 'people on TV are like people in the real world now' answer was all about. Probably because I too, do not know Colin.
I do know annoying people though. A lot of them! Turns out people who are annoying (to varying degrees) can be found anywhere! It isn't necessarily about media saturation (although I agree that people on the media are pretty damn annoying as well.) I think it is more about people saturation.
The truth is you are stuck working with this person. You can't escape them. Half the reason they annoy you so is no doubt the knowledge that you can not escape them. But maybe you should take a moment to consider YOU are so annoyed by them. I don't mean catalouge the many behaviours exhibited by this person that are annoying. I mean think about what is it about YOU that finds this person so aggravating. Sometimes identifing that aspect of yourself helps you deal with and get by with being less annoyed.
Sometimes you just have to laugh at the absurdity of it all.
People are dumb! They don't know how to walk! They don't know how LOUD they are. They don't know that they need not broadcast their mobile phone conversation to the train! They don't know how to count, talk, spell, eat with their mouths shut! Its a miracle we all haven't killed eachother by now! But... we haven't.
Mostly because we learn how to ignore, put up with, or laugh at other people. Stop letting this man get under your skin. Theres no need for it! You've set yourself up to be more annoyed by him... you start to look for the behaviours that annoy you... there it is! That Jamacian accent again! God, how I hate this guy! But really, who cares? So hes inept. So he does dumb accents. Get over it. It shouldn't affect you so much.
