  • Great lists - let's add more diversity

[Read the article: The sexiest man living!]

How about Asian men? I adore Chow Yun-Fat (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and much more). He sets my heart a-flutter. And Jackie Chan can make me laugh as well as drop my jaw with his physical feats.

  • I'd be happy if they just evened up the gender balance generally!

[Read the article: To Pixar: We love it. But next time, could you add a girl?]

We watch the Pixar movies over and over with our two girls and we, too, have noted the lack of female characters. I don't really have a problem with the main character being male (altho' it would be nice to have a female main character) because they do often have interesting secondary female characters. However I don't understand why the majority of minor characters have to be male in most of these movies. Why couldn't Squeaker the penguin have been female in Toy Story? I can think of 3 female monsters at Monsters Inc - none of whom seemed to be doing anything but sterotypically female jobs (receptionist, admin - admittedly Roz turns out to be a bigwig but...) Why couldn't some of the minor monsters have been female. While I take the point of some of the earlier posters that the real world for the CGI animators is mainly male, the worlds that they are creating are imaginary so why not make them more gender-balanced? Maybe in the long run it would encourage all of our children (girls & boys) to explore more options. And then they wouldn't have to beg for female animators...

  • A bit off-topic - Why specify Craig's "adopted sons"

[Read the article: "A victim of circumstance"]

Just curious - how does the fact that Craig's sons are adopted add to this story? If this is an illuminating fact, I would find it helpful to have a little more insight as to why it's illuminating. I can come up with several scenarios where it might be relevant but since at least two are contradictory, the simple fact, without more background, only raises more questions than it answers. If it's not relevant to this story, then it would be sufficient to let us know that his children have questioned him and made a statement about it.

  • I take your point but stand by mine as well

Thanks for clarifying nancerich - I didn't have the info that you have on Mr. Craig.

I still stand by my original comment that if "adopted" is relevant then it needs to spelled out "why" it's relevant. This article didn't tell me why it was relevant and unfortunately none of the other info I've read on this topic has either - outside of this thread. Not that I've read exhaustively but I have read 5 or 6 stories so I don't think I'm the only one who wouldn't know.
