The answer is obvious

You have 64 names. Work to make it impossible for any of the 64 to hold any elective office anywhere.

Any Democratic officeholder that complains about that tactic should be asked if he/she wants their name added to the list.

Women haven't gotten anything for playing nice, and no matter how much you give up the anti-sex leaguers and forced birthers will always demand more, it's time to try a different approach.

Original article: Viva Viagra?

What's Hollywood got to do with it?

Hollywood sex? I think that's a euphemism. It's really about Porn sex, a somewhat different thing. If I've learned anything from the spam I get it's that everything I knew about intimate relationships was wrong, all that's really needed is boner pills, "male enhancement" pills and, for some reason, a replica watch.

A sad and tragic tale indeed

As far as I know there is no legal requirement for any coverage of the President. Given the inherently stenographic nature of most of the product produced by the White House Press Corp there isn't much need for any coverage most of the time.

I suggest you try selling your seat in that SUV to one of the many people who would love to do the pool thing. Win-win, unless of course something actually happens.

Why?

Why does this sort of thing keep happening? The foot dragging and denial about agent orange in Vietnam,to the Gulf War Syndrome denial, to the recent problems found at VA hospitals the government keeps doing this sort of thing. Why? I know of no constituency for giving our veterans anything other than the very best care with the most inclusive eligibility requirements, yet one must exist. What persons and institutions comprise that constituency?

A minor point

"At least as I understand it, this has been a central blogosphere critique of the Washington media and political establishment for many years: that those who were completely wrong about the War (by supporting it) are still deemed to be the Serious, Competent Experts, and their spectacular wrongness has not cost them anything in terms of influence, prestige and credibility. That Establishment dynamic is grounded in the premise that one's "expertise" and "competence" has nothing to do with the ideological views one has expressed"

That's not quite the way I understand it. The blogosphere's critique is that these people were consistently wrong. A plumber who flooded your house or an electrician that burned it down would not be rehired whether their theoretical understanding of their respective crafts were correct or incorrect The same standard should be applied to people who will be in positions where they could bankrupt or destroy the country.

This administration's problems ARE largely a product of it's ideology. That ideology is not what most people think it is. The Bush administration's ideology is the ideology of the organized crime cartel, which is to say it is that of the petty King, Satrap, or Medieval Robber Baron.

The silliness rolls on forever

Children, once again we are presented with an article that claims some deep insight into the nature/nurture conundrum. What do we say when we see this kind of article? That's right kiddies, we say bullshit. Does anyone know why we say that?

That's correct, because people have had more or less complex cultures for at least a hundred thousand years. Does anyone know how to sort the effects of nurture in any society that exists or that ever ever existed in all that time. No one does. Can anyone say with assurance that they know exactly when infants begin picking up cultural clues? At one day of age?One month? One year? One minute? No one can, and unless they do some very unethical double blind experiments it's doubtful that they ever will. But thats not the biggest reason for calling bullshit is it? The biggest reason is that the ONLY use this sort of thing is ever actually used for is to buttress some sexist or racist argument. And what do we call that?

That's right children we call it bullshit.

Class dismissed

A question

Wherever did you get the notion that the market for Viagra and similar drugs is limited to men with erectile dysfunction? Viagra, like steroids, is a performance enhancing drug. Men, I am told, do take it for that reason, therefore the market for these drugs is a lot larger just the E.D. set and potentially encompasses the whole male haf of humanity plus, some small part of the female half.

Lying liars

Maybe it's fair to give give the benefit of the doubt as to whether someone is lying as opposed to just being misinformed, however, if they are given the facts and they either repeat the same BS of fail to correct their statements, then I think it appropriate, fair, and useful to use the words "lie" and "liar" in descriptions of the statements and the person making them. To do otherwise can only aid the spread of misinformation.

Original article: Is Ralph Nader losing it?

Nader did not cost Gore the presidency

Nader lost it long ago, but whatever his sins this:

"Nader is a dead end for progressives. He can't win the presidency; he can't win seats in Congress; he can only cost a Democrat the presidency, as he did in 2000"

is not one of them. Gore won in spite of Nader and a lot of other things. The ONLY place Gore lost was in the Supreme Court. I have lost rack of the number of letters I've written saying this but it's important. Gore won in 2000, he, and our country were the victims of a judicial coup.Try not to forget that.
