Despite all of this talk about the liberal media, it's been fairly obvious that the media hss been bought up and co-opted by corportations who if not overtly conservative politically, at least are oonventionally fearful of offending the powers that be so they take the socially conservative route. It's also been obvious that we are being "entertained" to death with celebrities, gossip, reality shows, etc. So that we don't think about what's really going on in this country. Look at where we are--Stop depending on the mainstream media for your information especially television. It's up to all citizens to take a larger interest in what's been going on in this country because we are on the verge of losing it in more ways than one. We have to take back our country and demand justice for what's happened in our name during the last few years. The pundits are scared to death of the Republicans so they are not going to do anything to antagonize them--it's fairly obvious they don't have the same fear or respect for the Democratics. So get ready for the same crap we saw during the Clinton era. Don't believe their hype, take everything with a grain of salt and find other sources of information.
Will you people give it a rest please!!! What planet were you on when this man was running for office. I voted for him and I will support him because I love who he is as a person. He is comfortable in his own skin, pragmatic, even tempered, highly intelligent and I believe genuinely has the sense that public service is for the common good and not for his own personal gain. But if you listened to the things he said and read his position papers, he is by no means progressive or maybe even liberal. He has said time and time again that he doesn't do ideaology--he goes with what works best. I am politically progressive verging on radical and I don't agree with alot of what he is doing or some of his picks but I don't regret my vote. This country is in such bad shape that Obama's middle of the road views are like a breath of fresh air. But for those of you who think that because this was progressives chance to "get back" at the right wing you are going to be disappointed over the next 4-8 years. Obama told us he doesn't do revenge or take sides--were you not listening? I've been looking and listening to the left wing the pundits the reporters etc.and shaking my head. He told you who he was. You just were hearing him. If we and by this I mean progressives, anti-war/peaceniks, people who want real actual change that we can believe in--we have to stop whining and carping, complaining about the democrats and actually get out there and organize for the change we want to see and stop crying about democrats not respecting or listening to us. We need a third party or at least a viable candidate who actually wants the things we want. That goes for the LGBT community. I am a Black woman who is appalled by the fact that oppressed people including other African Americans are so willing to oppress other people but that's America. Keep trying get organized. Like with the suffrage movement and the civil rights movement it was a long time coming but it did happen.
I know that this is considered taboo to talk about in America because we are Isreal's biggest cheerleaders, but the fact is that Isreal was created by the British as one of their last colonial outposts--why is it okay for people of European descernt to go into a country filled with people of color and to unceremoniously take their land and make them refugees? and we think this is okay? It was done all over the world by the European countries to Asia, Africa, the middleastern nations which have all risen up and taken back their power. It's not going to be any different in Isreal. You will not have peace as long as you are oppressing people. We can spend all the money we want and justify the violence and the killing and the building of settlements and the apartheid like treatment of people of color, but until we get serious about justice for everyone, and both sides stop playing the victim card, there will be no solution. You can't bomb these people into oblivion. This is at the root of our problems with radical islam. This and the fact that we have been supporting autocratic middle eastern regimes that have been oppressing their own people so they aren't really worried about the Palestinians. The powder keg is rattling and it's going to blow soon. You can't keep oppressing people and not expect them to react.
