I know that some centuries ago the Catholic Church got its jollies by torturing hapless people who refused to confess they played strip poker with Satan every Saturday night.
Ashcroft and Bush both claim to be devout Christians. Ashcroft even had himself anointed on the Senate floor.
What is it about their faith that persuaded them to lie and torture? At what point did Jesus say to his followers, Hey, guys if you need to torture anyone, I'm good with it, same for lying about getting a war started.
I am not a christian so I am sure one of you guys will explain why these actions are OK in light of Bush and Ashcroft's professed faith. (I understand defending one's self when attacked, but I fail to see the rest of it. Did I miss one of the important speeches by Jesus?)
At what point does reneging on one's oath of office become an impeachable offense?
Both Bush and Cheney swore to uphold the constitution. Neither did. Nor will they ever.
How political or partisan is it to point this out? Can the GOP argue that reneging on one's oath of office is permissible behavior? Why take the oath if you have no intention of living up to it? What possible explanation can the GOP offer that excuses such behavior?
Since Congress never formally declared war, no war claims can be made. Surely Congress, even though majority republican, never intended to excuse anyone from their oaths of office?
While I have not forgiven Biden for the "Protect the rich and screw the poor bankruptcy act of America" I understand that his knowledge will smooth over many rough spots when change is attempted.
He will know how the GOP scum will react and in what fashion they will impede anything likely to improve the lot of the average American.
The GOP will insist that any costs of change must be fully borne by the middle class and the poor. The rich need to use their funds to hire more undocumented servants and inexpensive gardners for their new mansions. The rich can't be bothered with investing in America's infrastructure and its educational system. The rich must not be asked to risk their wealth in anything less than ironclad securities.
Perhaps some of the rich took chances on the way to becoming rich but once there they begin to look askance at taking chances.
It is the small businessman or woman who takes the chances and on occasion is bankrupt. The truly rich are only willing to come in if the risk has been minimized.
People like Joe Biden have seen the effect of a party whose sole interest is safeguarding the wealth of the already over privileged. I hope he can recall why his father quit his job when the boss during a christmas party threw out silver dollars just to see his employees scramble on their hands and knees for a pittance.
What America can well do without is arrogant wealth that despises and disrespects the workers whose labor produces the wealth.
Today's Chian has taught its party members that politics will yield wealth for all party members in due course. I am surprised that the party is not inundated with applications. Perhaps I do not see the impending end of the party because I am so far away.
As our national VP said, if there is a 1% chance that someone may bother us we have the right to take pre-emptive action. This is simply the Bush/Cheney doctrine in action. Note that no right wing groups nor left wing groups were treated in such fashion in Denver. Who gives a hoot if someone wants to embarrass the Democrats?
No one will be allowed to do anything that might reflect poorly on the Republicans, unless its other Republicans.
If it is not happening to Noonan, It is not real. She is the center of all things and what may be reported to occur on the periphery is not imbued with any tinge of reality.
Until her neighborhood is filled with foreclosed homes and gaunt children are carefully sifting through garbage cans the world is still at peace and prosperity is ubiquitous.
What she does not see is not real. It is just a sick progressive mirage pushed by those who would discredit her heroic conservative leaders who made this counry so great for her and her kind. I'd wager that she is in the top 5% income group and will not unduly suffer except emotionally.
Decency is not anything political whores will accept as a usable, viable notion.
Hark back to those wonderful quotes when Bush's guys stole the 2000 election. The political whores chortled with delight at the theft and its success via the Supreme Court. They accused everyone of wingnuttery who declined to accept the theft. Offer them their own words in return and you will find that they never said them. Never said them like GHW Bush never said Read my lips...... Or GW Bush never said Stay the course.
Scum will always deny its scuminess. It will pretend to be insulted when accused of being scum. That is the way of scum.
Franken was right about them and they will never be able to forgive him for pointing it out in public. Had he called them liars in private no vendetta would have been created.
Time has come to reissue Frankens books with the marketing campaign, "They are at it again as we all expected. The lying Liars have crawled out from under their rocks and are spewing new venomous lies. Read all about it in Al Franken's books. Prophecy that has come true in our time."
