Again, don't do it
[Read the article: My boyfriend wants an open relationship]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Cary's really lost it on this one.
How ridiculous to say that it can't get any worse than losing your lover. Yes it can. If you're not ready or generally suited to an open relationship, you're going to end up dealing with jealousy, insecurity, abandonment, and a great big therapy bill to try to fix the issues you accumulate during this time when according to Cary you were just gaining valuable "experience".
You need to hold out for the relationship you want. Trying to be someone you are not is never going to make you happy.

Who cares if you approve or not.
[Read the article: Lactivists converge in airports]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]To Woodviolet,
So you approve of breastfeeding a 3 month old and seeing a 6 month old breastfeed doesn't gross you out. Well good. So at what point does it start to turn your stomach? Once they become "ambulatory"? Oooh. Nasty.
The fact is that mothers have a right to breastfeed and babies have a right to be fed in public without blankets over their heads. They don't need your approval to do so and they certainly don't need to wait for you to get over your hang ups. So leave other people alone and if you can't handle seeing someone exercise their rights, look away.
We cannot use our comfort level as a gauge of correctness in this matter. Sadly in our country, over the last 40 years formula became the norm for feeding babies and toddlers, so most of us are just not used to watching a mother breastfeed, especially watching a mother breastfeed a toddler, but it's not wrong just because we're not used to it. Apparently, the immune system doesn't even fully function until we're 2 years old, hence the need for breast milk and protection from the mother's immune system.
And regarding what is emotionally and intellectually healthy, just think for a minute about all the Ritalin we're feeding our kids and all these disconnected and even violent children running around these days; a little more connection with their mother may have been helpful...

A SALON LOW POINT
[Read the article: Anna Nicole Smith dead]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yes, take it down now. The woman was occasionally quite humorous. Maybe you could find a better clip... posting this one at this time is in extremely poor taste.

Huh?
[Read the article: This little piggy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]OK, we're experiencing some sort of weird pop psychology/political correctness backlash here but please, are we really really hankering after the good old days when parents felt free to treat their kids with less respect than they would treat any other being on the planet? Oh, and I wonder why a whole generation decided that they didn't want to do to their kids what had been done to them? Because it had worked to incredibly well for them?
Well, I suppose that if you really think things were better back in the good old days, feel free to insult your children, hold your heads up high with the satisfaction of a nice cutting verbal left hook. Just please stay away from my kid. Thanks.
PS: By the way, the nasty little s**ts who bully my polite kid at school are generally the ones who have rude disrespectful parents. Life's really not that complicated in the end.

Choices would be good
[Read the article: Ricki Lake's "awesome" vagina]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yes, women should be encouraged to make their own choices, but when very few of them are really offered the choice of a home birth, because MD's are generally strongly opposed, then they have no choice.
We have a 1 in 4 rate of c-sections in this country. This is not OK. There is no way that these numbers make sense from a medical point of view. OBGYNs are most often terribly uneducated about childbirth. They over-manage and mess things up. They're just trained to do this and there's no arguing with them. So good for Ricky if she can raise some awareness.

Bad Idea
[Read the article: Goodbye to Audiofile]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Don't ditch Audiofile, just replace the new guy. His picks are not as good as Barlett's so I'm sure less people are going there, but Audiofile is one of the best Salon features. If you really do this, my premium account is over.

statistics
[Read the article: Pit bulls are innocent]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If you want some statistics, there are some towards the end of this clip, if you have the stomach to watch the beginning...

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Men never cease to gross me out - and I'm straight. Shame.

driving stoned is NOT cool
[Read the article: Sex, drugs and my 15-year-old]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I know it's already been said but I just have to repeat it. Smoke all you like but for goodness sake take a cab when you're high.

do something
[Read the article: Why me? What did I do to deserve Bell's palsy?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It sounds like the LW has really got herself wound up about this. Could be being pregnant, could just be the way she is. So she should start being more pro-active in her healing. My sister was cured of this condition by seeing an osteopath who performed some sort of chiropractic adjustment. Who knows, that could work. If it doesn't she could see a Chinese medicine doctor, a homeopath, a massage therapist, a naturopath. You get the idea. It may really help to take charge of the situation instead of sitting around feeling out of control.

Outrageous
[Read the article: Diamonds and pearls and the b-word]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The student who asked the question should be ashamed of herself. There was her big moment, when she had a chance to ask the potential president of the United States a question and THAT is what came out of her mouth... pathetic.
Her suffragette grandmothers must have been turning in their graves.

Ridiculous article
[Read the article: Gloria Steinem on Barack Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You just can't not sound like a feminist when you're making feminist points. Ridiculous. And by the way, there's nothing shameful about trying to make the world a more equal place for men and women. Why try to hide? I'm sure that Steinham would laugh at this piece. It's just so irrelevant.
