The Biggest Advances in Creative Entertainment

are achieved through the videogame genre. You want to find the creative talent that's been missing from movies/TV/cable?

Look no further.

Obama Is Totally Right on This Issue

No person or organization affiliated with the opposition movement has said one word that remotely asks for "moral support" from the U.S. Just the opposite: they're relieved that Obama has kept his distance.

Every expert who knows his ass from a hole in the ground has also backed Obama's approach.

I think Joe and Hillary need to take McCain off their speed dial.

Cheney Must Have Called Bush

and told him that he better say something or would soon be getting measured for his own presidential orange jumpsuit.

Fortunately, Bush opening his mouth is the worst possible action he could take.

Right-wing Fear of Franken

The right-wing's palpable fear of Franken never ceases to amaze me. The trolls bray from under their bridges, but will never come out and argue the merits of any issue.

This much I can tell you: a GOP senator will something that is blisteringly stupid, Franken will take the floor and leave their (rhetorically speaking) bloody corpse out on the senate floor on national television. ON THE MERITS.

That is the basis for their terror.

Congratulations, Dan!

I'm pleased (but not surprised) that Froomkin was immediately snatched up. I'm also not surprised that Arianna Huffington has the media acumen to quickly make an offer and negotiate a deal. I'm pretty confident that she will not impinge on Froomkin's autonomy, as it is that quality that will drive readers to the (new) Post.

Now, if they would just make the website more intuitive and user-friendly (just my $.02).

HuffPo Website Needs Work

I don't mind the entertainment/tabloid elements, they just need to organize it in a coherent fashion.

The website has always seemed to be a mishmash of everything together and it is difficult to quickly find articles regarding a topic or writer of interest.

That's my complaint. They need to invest in website infrastructure.

Original article: Franken sworn in to Senate

Low Publicity Fine with Franken

I have a feeling Al is just fine with the lack of publicity at his swearing-in ceremony. He'll generate enough heat at the committee meetings.

Go, Al, go!!

Logistics for Dummies

If it exists, such a book should be delivered to all GOP legislators, as they clearly have no clue of what it takes to implement a stimulus package of this magnitude.

Obama ain't the tooth fairy, people. It's going to take 6-12 months to fund projects which provide direct stimulus to the economy (i.e., the most bang for the buck). Tax breaks are quick, but you have very little control over how the money is spent.

Of course, understanding this issue takes a little imagination and some research, so I'm confident the GOP will never figure it out. Independent voters, however, should have no problem if explained properly.

I want the Truth! - You Can't Handle the Truth!!

The truth: Telecom data mainlines were siphoned to huge date storage drives, which were (are?) mined for possible threads indicating "terrorist activities" (according to some Cheney-approved protocol). Emails, phone calls, anything transmitted as data, with little or no regard for the parties at either end.

Any possibility of proving these circumstances likely died with the EFF lawsuit against the telecoms and the "new, improved" FISA amendment, which means it is destined to repeat itself.

Correction

Change "destined to repeat itself" to "continue unabated."

Band-Aid on a Malignant Tumor

That's describes Obama's approach towards warrantless surveillance, torture and indefinite detention. We need to pick up the scalpel now!

I'm glad that he's in the White House (and not McCain), but this shit makes me crazy.

Hard-core Miyazaki Fan Here

I've often popped in a Miyazaki DVD for my kids for entertainment. Problem is, more times than not, I was also on the couch with them.

After many a hard and stressful day, it was nice to chill out to some pastoral simplicity a la "Totoro," "Kiki's Delivery Service," etc. My oldest is now heading to college and my youngest is in high school. They seemed to come out of it OK.

Keep It Up, Obama!

He's going to need to do more of this, especially during the August recess, and visit blue dog and republican districts. He's got to end run these bastards and go directly to the constituents. If enough grassroots pressure can be applied by the end of the recess, he can then apply his own leverage and squeeze them.

Wow

That was awesome. It's great to see someone excelling for the love of doing it and getting some recognition. I love how he finds every day structures for the stunts. I also could see him doing something for the next Bond movie or another action flick.

We Have No Cred Concerning Accountability

Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Addington/Yoo ad nauseam are no better than the african leaders accused by Clinton. Time will only tell if Obama must be added to that list. I'm holding out hope to the contrary.

She has to know deep down that today those words ring hollow until we uphold our end at home.

We are way overdue for some true leadership in this area, but I'm afraid that will have to come from Congress (wince).

Get Some Well-Deserved Rest, Glenn

We want your batteries charged for the coming shitstorm (or should I say the next wave in the Mother of All Shitstorms?).

My advice: check all electronic devices (except your phone) at the door when leaving.

My Rx: have a beer, soak some rays and take a nap (in that order).

Japanese Eco-Terrorism

Is as big a threat to the planet as any other "terrorist nation." I would gladly support international sanctions against them until they realize that their ancient fishing culture is a threat to our survival.

The oceans of this world have been eviscerated. This is no longer a "feel good" issue. People who think oil is a global security issue will think again when the last fish is hauled out in a net and there is no more sea food for the starving masses.

Have a Great Vacation, Andrew

I'll give you the same advice I gave Glenn Greenwald:

1. check all electronic devices (except your phone) at the door when leaving.

2. have a beer, soak some rays and take a nap (in that order).
