  • On Jumping to McCain

[Read the article: How the long primary battle helps Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Anyone who honestly supports either Clinton or Obama and says they may vote for McCain because of the primary process is either (i) retarded, (ii) insane or (iii) republican (all of the above).

Here, you have two primary candidates with practically identical policy positions, and people are going to run to vote for McCain because of negative insinuations?!

    Give me a fucking break.

The real problem is that these threads are rife with republican trolls.

The primary is the hard part for Democrats (and anyone else who recognizes the insanity of the last eight years). The general election will be a no-brainer. All you have to do is show that McCain's policies ARE NO DIFFERENT FROM BUSH'S. There is ample evidence for that.

  • The BS is Flowing Today

[Read the article: A boom in Democratic registrations]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

All this talk about Obama/Clinton having no chance against McCain is purely delusional.

Show me one area of substantive policy where McCain significantly deviates from George W. Bush, one of the worst and least popular presidents of all time. Plus the fact that McCain has flopped on all of his "maverick" positions and is now busy felching the right-wing corpus. Plus the fact that he doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to economic policy. Plus the fact that he can't tell Sunni from Shiite and seems eager to wage more war, not less. Plus the fact that he's solicited endorsements from extremist religious leaders who have made statements much worse than those by Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Any edge McCain may currently have (which I seriously doubt) is due to the fact that NOONE IS PAYING ANY ATTENTION TO HIM. Any competent campaign should be able to expose all these weaknesses. My money is on Obama.

Yes, a percentage of new registrations may be from nefarious republicans, but I believe most of them are by people who are hurting, both socially and economically, and see John McCain as George Bush's 3rd term.

  • The Polls Didn't Change

because Obama hit the proverbial ball out of the park with that speech. Did it again on economic policy, IMO. If people want to hurl more "gotcha" issues at him, I'm sure he's open for business.

Although the primary election is close, people are going overboard on the divisive effect of the primary process. Most of these threads are stoked by PAID partisan hacks and I believe most Democrats facing a prospective McCain presidency, will gladly vote for whoever wins the Democratic nomination.

Look at the Clinton/Obama economic policy prescriptions and then look at McCain's. There's no way a significant percentage of Democrats are changing to McCain or not voting in this critical general election.

is a republican troll and if he isn't, he should reconsider his party affiliation as he sure sounds like one.

Money well spent and a good investment, IMO. To those who think the endeavour is quixotic, it's only that way if you're alone. I stand with Glenn and all the true posters on this blog (no repub. trolls, thank you).

They can only do it to you if you let them. Time to pick up the iron gauntlets and start swinging!!

  • Maddow Interview

[Read the article: "Great American Hypocrites: Toppling the Big Myths of Republican Politics"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Caught Glenn's interview with Rachel Maddow. He succintly covered all the points and more importantly, Maddow recapped the discussion pretty accurately after he signed off.

The next step is to get this story on Olbermann's Countdown. Rachel is often a guest commentator on that show, so I'm hoping she gives Keith a call.

  • Questions of Honor and Respect

[Read the article: McCain discusses his legendary temper]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"As a young man, I would respond aggressively and sometimes irresponsibly to anyone whom I perceived to have questioned my sense of honor and self-respect. Those responses often got me in a fair amount of trouble earlier in life. In all candor, as an adult I've been known to forget occasionally the discretion expected of a person of my years and station when I believe I've been accorded a lack of respect I did not deserve."

What happens with he perceives a leader questioning his "sense of honor and self-respect" or "according a lack of respect" he "did not deserve?" When this happens, will he take an issue of national policy and make it "personal?"

These are critical questions voters need answers to.

  • Olbermann Segment

[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Glenn,

Thanks for update. Olbermann's blurb was great, but we need some follow-up, which will require some further newsworthy action.

I'm emailing House and Senate members (including my man, Henry Waxman) and making sure they're aware (and aware that I'm aware) of Mukasey's statements. Somebody in high places has to start asking some much needed questions.

Any official inquiry will bring more exposure to this issue, which will hopefully lead to increased media coverage.

  • Boy, I can't wait for September

Hopefully, that's when all the bloggers posing as Clinton/Obama supporters while hurling invective at Obama/Clinton can crawl back to under their republican rocks and be upfront about who they really are.

Oh, you're NEVER going to vote for Clinton/Obama if they're nominated? If you're a registered Democrat, just change your affiliation now and save us the confusion.
