What a fabulous Thanksgiving story. One of the best ever. Thank YOU.
The right, those folks who think they should be able to run the lives of others, and their brethren and sistren just hate the truth. Their worlds are Kodak commercials (for those who remember) and the reality of life pisses them off every time. It is so inconvenient to have facts interfere with their idea of how the world should be.
Good for Ms. Trunk. She now has another follower on Twitter.
Although it isn't on the menu Wendy's will provide you with a junior Frosty for about a buck. I won't tell you why I know that.
but when are folks going to get a clue. There is no consideration of shopping. Go live in the inner city and try to buy fruit and vegetables within a reasonable distance. Examine the cost at the local corner store v the less expensive supermarket. Or take a bus for an hour and carry home groceries without a vehicle. And include the cost of the bus trip.
Or try this in the north during the winter months. What will you be finding at that charming farmer's market? Where will you get enough vitamins and minerals when you are buying locally?
Why no mention of the cost of cooking and running a freezer? Does the author imagine that these are free? Do this month after month. Feed children. Feed the elderly. Explain why you can't afford a cupcake for a child's birthday.
What is the matter with you people? Can you really be this blind?
Then come back and write another article.
I fail to understand why Salon wastes bandwidth on this nonsense. We have spent eight years getting hammered with this POV on almost every imaginable media outlet. One of the reasons I pay for Salon is to avoid just this crap. Please, spare me.
I'd like to say something erudite, but all I can manage is What an arrogant asshole. And stupid too.
Doods! Haven't I seen enough of Flyboy? Make it stop. Surely you could find a graphic that doesn't make me throw up in my mouth.
I meant Blogger. See how upset I am? :)
It may be a win-win for the corporations but it wouldn't be a win for me. I adore Hulu, have been one of its loyal users for some while now. (My queue is down to 61 this week.)
But I loathe Yahoo. I only use it when a fantasy football game is there and can still never find anything. It is a huge, cumbersome, useless, pain in the butt. Please don't wish that on me too. I'm still trying to get over the marriage of Google and Blogspot.
You know perfectly well you were wrong. And all of your innocence comes across as artifice. It wouldn't have killed you to have compassion, speak gently, and try to get along with other. But I suspect you are one of the "It's all about meeee!" generation. One of these days you will find a white hair who will stab you in the back when you least expect it. And you'll be sniveling about how you didn't do anything to deserve it.
When that happens, consider karma.
my dear. I can't tell you how much I needed this today. Now I am going to drink some water and breathe.
Kudos Heather. Right on. Exactly.
MGB, what possible difference does it make if Bolt beats the record by more. If he doesn't care, why do you? He isn't there to be a puppet.
And Costas? Is very very short. He seems to need his pseudo-superiority to keep his head above water. He doesn't belong in that job.
The McCain campaign was ready to put up a commercial saying anything. The point isn't the content of the ad. The point is to get the conversation off of Mr. McCains too-rich-to-know-how-many-houses-he-has conversation. That is the first thing that they have sensed was doing them harm.
Given that the point is to change the subject, can they still pick Mitt as the Veep? Because the rich party vs party of the people thing is just begging to smack them in the face.
Yes, yes, there is something to be said for personal experience but it isn't everything. The old saw "you aren't me so you don't understand" is (still) being used as a club to enhance one's street cred. And it alone is seriously crap. I don't have to be a murder victim to figure out that I wouldn't like it so much.
Seriously if the black experience is lacking from Ms. Steinem's work, how about a couple of insights or examples from that experience instead of just a club?
Give them more than one day. Geez. Look, I'm as big a snob as the next person but even those of you who pretend to only deign to listen to classical and shun the TV catch a glance at it once in a while. You know who you are.
Salon, thanks for trying and for keeping it fresh. You aren't perfect but you're a damn sign better than the next best thing out there.
and not one -- NOT ONE -- mentions the ducks. I'm so disappointed.
Thank you
TK, I'm right there with you. I do believe this is my last visit to Mr. K's column.
The "Buy a Guide" link takes me to Amazon which seems to be offering one copy "new or used" for $526 plus dollars. It seems a bit excessive.
You'd be doing her and the rest of us a big favor if you would just trade her in for a blow up doll.
What a tool.
Zogbar is why people hate vegans.
And I have never been able to tolerate Rachael Ray long enough to discover what she cooks or how. She is so perkily annoying.
