Re: Update.....

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn, I'm not sure what position your taking here or if I agree with it ( I suspect I don't) The only thing Ms. Reynolds can know about firsthand is how geeky people tend to play out violent FANTASIES using real soldiers as their proxies. Certainly you're familiar with the phrase 101st Fighting Keyboarders. This is in sharp contrast to people who engage in ACTUAL violence most of whom I suspect are strongly socialized to find such behavior acceptable.
I couldn't tell from your post if you thought Helen was full of BS or not but I'm confident that she is.
Now that I've given my considered opinion, I think I'll read the links and decide if I've made an ass of myself ;-)

Quick note

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sorry shooter but your 80/20 assertion proves nothing. Such a result could be acheived with an absolute flat tax because---------get ready for it - this is good ------ready?----You're sure?--------
Rich people make more money.....badabump.
Using statistics to lie doesn't make you any less a liar.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Here's what you wrote:
Glenn doesn't do puff pieces on Democrats. He just ignores anything that might be embarrassing or hypocritical, which doesn't fit his thesis of the day
Do you need a link? Its only two pages back.
The links I posted are to a lengthy series of articles about Democrats, pointing out how they are being both embarrassing AND hypocritical.
Ergo, since I know you read Glenn regularly, the statement above is deliberatly false, AKA a lie.

Trying to control the subject
[Read the article: Various items]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn usually writes about A:Usurpation of Contitutional protections and Executive overreach, B:Warmaking and aggression far beyond the needs of self-defense, C: Media collusion in misleading the public and preventing proper perspective on US activities as seen from the World in general.
That being the case, I'm quite confident that if Hillary Clinton were to win the office of the presidency, that Glenn will continue to be a very busy man.
That certain people are incapable of realizing that others around them are acting from conviction and principle, addressing issues that matter, independent of the individual actors involved (or their party affilliation) makes for an interesting sideshow to the main proceedings. (a process I confess to participating in all to readily, to the detriment of the larger thread.)

@Golden Boy

[Read more letters about this article: Here]You seem to be suffering from the same logical misstep that guides BOTH GWB and OBL. Most people would prefer not to think about politics very much. But just as "There is nothing more exhilarating than to be shot at without result.", there is nothing more motivating to action than having your homeland attacked and losing freinds and family members as a result.
Bombing and killing people ALWAYS creates more enemies than it eliminates. The only possible exception to this rule would constitute genocide and I retain faith that few if any care to go there.

In a word no.....
[Read the article: Various items]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Do you really think that OBL and his lieutenants hoped that NATO would declare war on the Taliban, force it into being a guerilla army once again, bomb their training camps and weapon caches, and target them for death and capture around the globe?
No, I was just drawing the parallel between OBL's assumption that an attack would weaken rather than anger us, and GWB's assumption that we would be welcomed in Iraq or the less often stated idea, that if we were to attack Iran it would set the stage for a regime change in our favor.
This phrase:
But please let's not have any nonsense that we are playing into al Qaeda hands by killing al Qaeda operatives
Is what inspired my comment.
I assert that we do indeed play into Al Qaeda's hands when we kill their operatives IF we use traditional tools of warfare to do so. AQI may or may not be an important regional actor but it didn't even exist until we created it.

OK - Its time for another round
[Read the article: The D.C. establishment versus American public opinion]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]of everybody's favorite fun game -
STUPID OR LYING?
You have said several times that you don't beleive people wake up in the morning and decide, "I'm going to tell a pack of lies today" and I've frequently said in defense of that notion "Never underestimate the power of delusion"
But there comes a point in time where the question of whether the deception is deliberate or not comes into play. Now shooter can come here and utterly fail to notice that if a randomly selected group of Americans ends up falling 50/40 Democrat, then that reflects the makeup of the population in question and is definitely NOT a reason to dismiss the poll results. But the Press Corps isn't shooter. They're supposed to be professionals. When they say "this is what Americans believe" they are indeed, flat-out lying. They know how polls work. They aren't idiots. In short the answer to the question "Stupid or Lying" is unquestionably - Lying.

Leave it shooter

[Read more letters about this article: Here]to actually advance stupidity as a virtue.
Do I need to mention that reliability in the face of a mass of evidence that you are flat-out wrong is better described as insanity.

Marketing Marketing Marketing.
[Read the article: A one-day guide to war supporters and their enablers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]All the time we were being told to wait for General Petraeus's report to Congress, it never occurred to me that we were waiting for the anniversary week of Sept. 11th.
It seems to me, that one of the reasons the Dems are cowering in the corner is they actually appreciate the power of brainwashing - uh I mean marketing. This year is the first where September 11th falls on the same weekday as the original tragedy. Is it a coincidence that this is the week they've chosen to roll out the "7 out of 10 Generals prefer the Surge over the next leading strategy" campaign?
