  • The "Patriots" in the White House

[Read the article: Still more White House secrecy -- this time in the Tillman investigation]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I was glad to see the Tillman story resuscitated. The list of administration lies is never-ending, but this one is particularly vile. It IS time for the Congress to step up or is there in fact, nothing sacred? It’s as if the Congress is watching the White House (and DOJ!) trying to hold down dozens of corks in a bathtub, waiting to see which one pops up next. JUST PULL THE PLUG! Anything less is “to do nothing”.

Recently each time the President or his latest press secretary Tony Snow is compelled to “inform” the People, neither can contain his contempt. It’s palpable. I guess the Neo Con cabal couldn’t imagine the Boy King having to clean up the mess he created while leashing and walking his (and their) lies and secrets through this most recent and terrible chapter of our history. On a good day, our fear filled leader just seems miffed. Now I know why George W. loves Gonzales; they’re both unctuous, smarmy whiners. I’m hopeful that it will get worse for each of them.

As for Tony Snow, I honor his personal courage while remaining quizzical about his professional choice. Is it just my often-limited thinking or did he really “exchange a walk-on part in the war, for a lead role in a cage”? Everyone near the President takes on damage for a loyalty that looks like fealty and is clearly poisonous. IS THERE A WORSE JOB IN THE WORLD than playing scarecrow for GW’s crop of crap? I guess I’d be cranky if my integrity and dignity became suspect every time I performed my job.

In the world of personal recovery, the central themes are puncturing the armor of denial, rebuking a vision of self-serving isolation, changing a life ruled by fear and dominated by lies and secrets, and ultimately relinquishing the life-line postulate that it's OK to be continually wrong, just never in doubt. We have allowed this President and his syndicate to standardize the toxic principles described in recovery literature as the Four (4) roadblocks and all but cripple our nation as a result:

    1. Indifference – “nobody cares what we’re doing, let’s get on with it!” (I think this is the one that bought that second term).

    2. Fancied self-sufficiency – “we don’t need anyone’s input on this, we’ll handle it ourselves---we’re doing just fine!”

    3. Prejudicial thinking – "Currently, 70-80% of Americans think the war in Iraq is a scam and that we in the administration are arrogant liars, contemptuous of the rule of law---what would THEY know!"

    4. Defiance – "To hell with PUBLIC anyway---we’ve got the power and we’ll do whatever WE WANT---that’s what’s best for America! What’re they going to do, impeach us?”

Lying and stonewalling about Pat Tillman are actually BENEATH contempt! Welcome to the White House of the Boy King.

  • It Seems He Was Shot 5 Times by Accident

[Read the article: Gonzales on the hot seat]

Sen. Whitehouse’s explication of the Gonzales “access” memo and its obvious import to politicize the Justice Department was electrifying. Sometimes the truth can occur randomly, even by mistake. The AG’s statement about staying around to “fix” things may be technically truthful, the same way that one secretly “fixes” the outcome of a prizefight or baseball' World Series. Gonzo expressed his practiced concern and surprise over the memo (THAT HE SIGNED) with the same aplomb that the singer Claudine Longet stated that she had shot Spider Sabich 5 TIMES, ACCIDENTALLY. The coup to subvert the Justice Department into an arm of the CHENEY/ROVE White House continues and Alberto Gonzales is the principal agent of that effort!

Sen. D. Feinstein’s presentation of documentary evidence in the revised voter-fraud policy guide at Justice goes to the heart of the NeoCon core belief: that elections and representative democracy are obstacles to the few qualified to govern and inimical to effective nation building. Brad Shlozman’s venture out into the light in the PRE-ELECTION Missouri voter fraud investigation was just the beginning of “Bushie” marksmen lining up the crosshairs on the ballot box, poised for the Constitutional “kill shot”. I am certain that the vagaries of the election process make Cheney, Rove, Wolfowitz, Perl, Bennet and the other Straussian acolytes just CRAZY! It made the 2000 election ALMOST unstealable. How ya’ gonna govern with all that “will of the people” crap! It's simple! No vote, no questions, no problem.

Senator Spector’s inability however, to stay focused often curtails the Committee’s pursuit of the truth. With the absolute worst liar in the known world sitting directly in front of him, Spector’s best efforts result in a cranky, griping display consistent with the behavior of a small child who missed his nap. Gonzales was found engaged in: “coup” behavior at the hospital; employment of a systematic strategy to ignore “quaint” international conventions (Geneva); abrogation of the Constitution itself; incalculable if not pathological lying; and intergalactic ineptitude in the perpetration of conduct that many believe will be correctly judged criminal, subversive if not treasonous and inhumane on its face. Does Spector really believe that the AG can be whined out of office while he’s trying to avoid future prosecution for war crimes?

Nor does Chairman Leahy’s fury and righteous indignation serve as effective divining rods for truth. The fact is that the Senator’s loud, hostile and often condescending conduct has merely sent Gonzales on a search for a bigger shovel and more dirt.

I'd be interested in the writer's further comments on the continued implementation of illegal surveillance mechanisms immedately following the failed cabal exercise at Ashcoft's hospital bedside.
