No Child left behind?
[Read the article: Country boy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Even though I disagree with much of this article, the obviously disturbing fact remains: Why has a country school to close for a shortfall of $ 600 000? Is the education of these 300 some kids less important than the huge amounts spent on the war in in Irak or the Billions blown on entities such as the VP,s former hangout Halliburton and similar "defense" contrators? Regardless of any religious idiosyncrazies of this paticular school the author of the article stated that her son could read better than his NYC classmates. Wasn't this school worth saving? What does the transportation of the children to more distant schools cost? Is that worth the effort?

What is better?
[Read the article: From Al Gore, a step toward 2008?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Global warming or wars? Owls or bullets? Let us be frank, with uncontrolled global warming there is a good chance that mankind will have a good chance of becoming the dinosaurs of the 2nd millenium as we count it. Needless to say that the policies of the present king in the White House may speed up this event tremendously.

Misunderestimated again?
[Read the article: Bush on Rumsfeld: Because I said so]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Have we not heard similar remarks from the great decider (still loaded with Cider) like "You are doing a heck of a Job Brownie"? There is hope to get relief yet. And preferably from both and their gang!

Neither- Nor
[Read the article: The significance of Rove's job change]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What has really changed? Rove still has the presidents ear, he remains the eminence grise behind the scene. The only thing that is still to be decided: When will Karl be indicted in the Valerie Plame affair? It is obvious that he was involved. The only reason the job was revised is to cover King George W's back in case there is a situation like Scooter Libby's. The only effective change in the White House would be an impeachment of both Bush and Cheney ,hopefully possible after November.

Rumsfeld?
[Read the article: War is hell; it's also really, really expensive]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]No more doubt that the multitudes refer to him as Dumbsfeld , Dummy, etc. are absolutely right, but probably be refered to by Prince Donny as liberal leftwingers.

Ignorance
[Read the article: Former CIA official: White House ignored Iraq intel]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]By now everyone should recognize it. GWB displays it every day. This new info just makes one wonder why their is no call for indictment or better yet, a Nuremberg style trial for warcrimes and crimes against humanity for King George W and his minions or inducers (as the case may be).For the Irak war he cannot claim his best known asset :Ignorance.

Gasprice
[Read the article: Black gold, Texas tea]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As hard as it may be, if rising gasprices help to get rid of the Bushies and Co, let them rise faster! Lowering may come soon after if the reputation of the US is restored and people of the world will recover their respect for them.

ODNI
[Read the article: Spooked by red tape]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Oddity would be better. Was the blame for 9/11 not pointing to too much bureaucracy? Intelligence is not originating in Washington but supposedly coordinated there. An old adage says : Too many cooks spoil the soup. That held true for the events of 2001, More of the same in DC is no solution. What is needed is field info. But again reliable intelligence from high ranking Iraki officials was ignored. It did not fit the ideas of the ruling clique. You cant just throw money at a problem and hope for the best. I know of a case were a reprimand was issued against an intelligence employee for reporting anti semitic feelings from the Soviet Union as importing them into the States. Has anything really changed since then (1952). One more layer will hinder not improve the system. Remember the Army was supposed to be greeted with flowers when arriving in Irak. The Source? An Iraki living in the US for years, afterwards being appointed interim premier with first class ties to IRAN! Will another layer stop this?

Who in this administration does not lie?
[Read the article: A Miller whitewash?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]At one time Gen. Miller uses the 5 th amendment to not incriminate himself, at another he did not brief anybody, he just met with them, did not talk however , probably just saluted, another time thephone records show that he , hell no there were no phone records and the statements of the aide in respect of these records get conveniently blacked out. Privates, Specialists and Sergeants get convicted and jailed, bad apples they are, while the brass who is supposedly in charge of the institutions involved claim the Fifth and weasel and lie to cover their behinds and those above them up to and including the Master in the White House and his exceptional legal advisor Gonzales.International standards and treaties be damned, let the underlings rot in jail. Did those characters not swear on the Constitution? What happened to their oaths? What would happen to those PFCs Sgts etc. if they would try to cover their behinds like those way above them in rank continuously do? What they did is worth than cutting down an apple tree, and they would not aven have admitted something similar. Lying seems to work best, there are still 32 out of a hundred who trust them.

Hello!
[Read the article: The forecast calls for Snow -- now that his demands have been met]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What a foxy idea, but what is different? We had snowjobs from the administration seemingly for ages now, also it is only 5years and some.
