Sankt Nikolaus
[Read the article: The man in the red suit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Tona Aspsusa you are right,it is an old European tradition, nothing commercial about it, celebrated on December 6 when St Nick with his book of misdeeds and a bag of goodies and helpers with a switch visited all families with children meting out punishment (at least threatening it) and eventually handing out sweets to the small fry, but also not forgetting the older generation. The next morning the stockings that were hung near the fireplace were miraculously stuffed with small presents. In my opinion that was a much better presentation of St Nikolas than the commercialized version that has nothing to do with the feast of Christmas. On Christmas eve it was the baby Jesus that left presents under a lit tree which the children expected but had not previously seen in that year. In actuality Christmas and the lit trees had nothing to do with chistianity, but was an old German/Norse tradition of the winter solstice and allowed into the Christian traditions to make Christianity more palatable to the those northern "pagans".

What about the others?
[Read the article: Saddam: The death of a dictator]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Saddam was a criminal, he deserved punishment. But a canguroo court was not the right instance in this case. Afterall he also illegally attacked two neighboring countries. There is an International Criminal Court in denHaag for cases like this, it has a reputation of independence and fairness. Unfortunately the Us is not recognizing this court for fear that Americans could be tried there! Could it be that Rumsfeld and Cheney would be co-accused for supplying those famous WMDs used by Saddam ,then supported by the US administration against the country that got rid of a US installed dictator named Shah Palewy, who was put there in lieu of a democratically elected government? And as far as the ICC is concerned , is not starting illegal wars of aggression a crime, regardless of who committed it? May that be the reason that canguroo court in the well protected Green Zone was created? One less madman, thanks. But what about the others?

To Bush is Great
[Read the article: Saddam: The death of a dictator]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You must be an utter idiot. What would to say when GWB were at the end of a rope (which he deserves) for his crimes against humanity? He is not any better than Saddam! Remember the picture of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam after making the WMD deal?

Saddam and Pinochet
[Read the article: Saddam: The death of a dictator]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Funny that David Schlaefer should cite Augusto Pinochet in comparison to Saddam. Does he realize that both dictators as well as many others like them were at times great favorites of the US governments? David, do you remember the handhake pictures of Rumsfeld with Saddam on the occasion of the latter aquiring the (in)famous WMDs for which he also was supposed to be tried? That trial never happened, could it be to protect good ole Rumsfailed and Cheney? Why was Saddam not tried before a really independent court like the ICC in denHaag? His well deserved suffering was was unfortunately shortened . Why?

Poison Gas
[Read the article: Saddam: The death of a dictator]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Mr. Liberalshit: May be you missed the fact that the poisongas Saddam used was produced by and in the States and sold to him via rightshit Dumsfeld. As long as there is the Bushit in power we all should worry, you included. Now go back and kiss Neo-Con asses.

White Hose dribble
[Read the article: Unhappy campers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Reading and watching the garbage emanating from the White House publicity machine represented by Batlett , Snow and Co. one sentence suffices to sum it up. They are a bunch of hopelessly confused pseudo advisers spokesmen etc., who somewhat lamebrained try to defend the idiocy of their employer.

What Mistake?
[Read the article: One answer: Send more troops]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It is more than important that this lame duck idiot admits that the original and biggest mistake was to get into Iraq in the first place. All his reasons were fake and instead of fighting al Qaida he wanted to be the victor of an easy war. What an idiotic assumption, well worth an indictment and prosecution. The reputation of the United States around the world has been damaged beyond recognition, he himself became the laughing stock not only of the nightly comedy shows but serious sources as well. The cartoons shown in the press up to and including publications such as the Economist speak volumes. The illegality of starting a war of agression should lead to the conviction of both the president and his advisors and Cabinet members before the International Criminal Court inspite of the fact that the USA up to this point has yet to recognize this institution. It is time that this sorry looking nincompoop is replaced by someone with even a little more intelligence. That should be easy. Lets not have more of the same, neither in Iraq or here.

The Price
[Read the article: Why diplomacy on Iraq isn't possible]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]20,000 more targets for Iraqi insurgents of whatever color as a price is acceptable to Condy, but to talk to Iran and Syria on the diplomatic level is to high! What a twisted viewpoint from the Foreign Secretary, but really no surprise as long as she can go on with her butt kissing practice to the losing decider, divider, ot whatever. However, I understand she is a good pianist. Maybe a concert hall would be a better venue for her.

Haven't heard from you for a while JOE
[Read the article: Senators tell Rice: The president has lost us]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Tell me, who ordered the illegal war of aggression, who lied through his teeth about the dangers of WMDs etc.,who promised freedom and democracy to Iraq? Wasn't it your beloved Shrub? So you are worried about your 2 year old son having to fight in the continuation of the Bushwar? I asked you before why did you not sign on and go to the scene, you may have learned something about war which some of us already did, instead of spouting bullshit. Face it my boy, Bush lost that war when he started it. It seems you have even less brain than your idol. That must be real hard.I am not even a lefty, just a realist who believes that wars dont solve things, just cost lives, a lot of my friends paid for this knowledge with theirs.
