The American Taliban; Christian Conservatives

Conservatism and moral values are mutually exclusive terms. In tracking the conservatives in their opposition of meaningful health care reform, it has become crystal clear that the anti people conservatives are really anti Christian and lacking in moral character. Everyone knows, the moral position, the Christian thing to do is to back health care reform, one with a very robust public option. Also, I'm convinced now that Republicans are opposed to a "woman's right to choose" and family planning, not on moral grounds, but rather it's another decision designed to benefit the corporatists. You know, more unwanted babies means more poverty, more broken families, more crime, more consumer consumption and so on. They've been hiding behind morality and Christian values, when all along it's been all about business and special interests. Conservatism and moral values are mutually exclusive terms.

The right-honorable thing to do,...............................

Congressional leaders in the House and Senate who have spouses and/or immediate family members working in a policy shaping way for a health care related company or a lobbying firm directly or indirectly representing a health care related company, should do the right honorable thing and voluntarily withdraw from the ongoing debate and vote on the health care reform bill. How many would be left? What a shameful and corrupted system. Let's start voting them out, NOW!!!!!!

Original article: Olbermann's wasted moment

Brilliant

Olbermann's insight into the current state of health care was perfectly framed and presented in an understandable way; absolutely brilliant. It should be mandatory viewing by members of the US Congress. Americans are in his debt for his outspoken support of health care reform and other progressive causes.

The mean spirited right!

Here's what I've noticed as the health care discussions have moved forward. It seems to me that arguments and those arguing from the right are far more vicious, ruthless, paranoid and insecure; advancing corrupted opinions. To top it off, people on the right think the people and approaches on the left are the same. No so; the left is far more intelligent, compassionate, more people oriented and more inclined to get things done.

Pay to Play!

You mean like Boeing and Lockheed-Martin? They buy patriotic TV ads all the time. But I get your point, we are in "deep do-do" until the corruption by special money is dramatically reduced.

Here's how I see it!

Here’s how I see it; 5 or 6 or how many years ago, a couple of sharp political handlers recognized that Ms. Palin, like

bush’s handlers had done before, was seen to have elements that they could exploit to get her elected to serious political office; perhaps even on the national stage. To a growing number of people these days, cynical political handlers [ala the Wall Street guys] see their jobs essentially as a game and clearly see the overall lack of political awareness of the American electorate. With Ms. Palin, they saw there laboratory subject; she was good looking, represented the family values thing, had some charm and just enough smarts so that they could effectively manipulate her to put her before the public. They got her elected Governor of Alaska; their first minor league success and then fashioned some policies to make her look good her first year in office. Then they saw their chance, linking then Governor Palin to McCain as his candidate for VP; their stepping stone for making her the first female president of the USA. That was their long range objective; after all, it’s just a game. They lost badly. Then they retreated and returned to Alaska to try and salvage their lab experiment, but the day to day news actually continued to expose more serious short-comings in the Governor to the point where the handlers, recognizing that salvaging Ms. Palin would be unachievable, decided to move on. Now, the Governor is on her own, totally exposed without her management team, facing what now would be seen by all as blatant incompetence in office, did the only honorable thing she could do; she quit. That’s how I see it.

Original article: Cheney lives on

Challenge Cheney!

The Conservative Republican talking heads and others, in an effort to justify torture, always fall back to the "ticking time-bomb" scenario. The argument is both phony and bogus.

First off, the Cheney/bush Administration, without needing to torture anyone, received detailed information of an impending terrorist attack in July of 2001; for all intent and purposes they were given a formal response to an actual "ticking time-bomb" situation; and did nothing.

Secondly, you all know the US Government spends over $1.3 trillion a year on our military and national security interests to include the CIA, FBI and Homeland Security.

Additionally, states, cities and the private sector also spends $100's of billions on police and security forces. Then there's all the money our allies spend to protect their citizens, too. With this level of spending on global security, the "ticking time-bomb" scenario should be moot.

What's the Brady Bill?

I have allot of good friends who are both recreational hunters and gun ownership advocates. I'm an anti assault weapons guy and naturally, I have on going and often heated debates with them. Of late, I've been winning the argument and I getting the upper hand more regularly just by asking them; "during the 10 years the Brady Bill was in place, did you and your gun ownership feel threatened?" Do you know what their response is? What's the Brady Bill? That tells me that honorable gun owners would respect reinstatement the law. When are the Democrats going to come to terms with this? When will they grow some hair? They should know that every death by assault weapon going forward, the blood is on their hands.
