In the context of where corporations sat in 1904, compared with where they stand in 2008, I doubt any movement toward actual regulation is going to have much teeth. There is simply too much money to be made, however it gets made, in the current system, for there to be an honest fight against it, at least from within the two major parties. And corporations wield far too much power in our system, are too global in scope, for any politician to be able to rein them in -- they'll just flee to places where human rights and regulations are nonexistent: the race to the bottom.

That said, Obama's at least going to try to cushion the freefall, whereas McCain's advocating a swan dive.
