As the resident of a minor market that 'got' a major league team

The Carolina Hurricanes, I have to think that anyone in Oklahoma City who's a booster is going to make a fantastic pile of cash if they are successful and that's the only reason. Because it makes zero sense, will not help the team, will screw the local taxpayers, and do nothing for the economy.

The Hartford Whalers Peter Karmanos screamed for years he was getting screwed by living halfway between Boston and New York. So what does he do? Move to freakin Raleigh. Actually Greensboro first while we built the RBC Center which NC State owns and the Canes get to use. And after fighting the city of Raleigh that wanted to build it somewhere where it made sense, like in downtown Raleigh, the RBC Center was built on or near the middle of NC State's large animal vet school farmland literally west of the middle of nowhere. No businesses no facilities no restaurants or hotels. Nothing.

And when the Canes started charging full prices for pre season games their first year in RBC, they appeared to actually be shocked at the low sales for season's tickets.

So to the fine people of Oklahoma City - throw those guys out. It's the Music Man and a Monorail all wrapped up in one. It's a goddamn scam.

I love this stuff

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) vowed Thursday to do everything in his power to overturn the Supreme Court’s decision on Guantanamo Bay detainees, saying that "if necessary," he would push for a constitutional amendment to modify the decision.

Graham blasted the decision as "irresponsible and outrageous," echoing the sentiments of many congressional Republicans and President Bush.

The court is irrelevant, it's going according to plan.

Original article: Men, talk among yourselves

But weren't you complaining we never listen?

So which is it. Because you sure as shit aren't paying attention to anything I say while you chatter away like a retard while talking to me and talking on the phone at the same time. I get the distinct sense that when women say 'you should talk more' they mean "you should agree more with whatever I say but only speak when spoken to, if I wanted you to have an opinion I would have given it to you and anyway, I'm not really listening to what you're saying anyhow (followed up with 5000 more word salad blitherings)."

Men are boring because you're scolding correcting micro micro managing nags who basically don't want men, you want employees and children you can bully and then feel like martyrs about.

Yeah whatever you say, hon, talk to the shop steward.

Original article: Michelle Obama Watch

She's not familiar with politics on a national stage

So she plays right into their hands. C'mon who doesn't expect her to show up one day with an Erikah Badu hairstyle screaming about evil whitey?

It's all about how you shape the argument

In Nanny Britain, you can pitch anything in terms of personal safety and terror (but not terror-ism). This is why Blair wanted 90 days and then settled for the completely arbitrary 28 days. Now Brown is pulling and equally arbitrary 42 days out of his ass.

But what's more interesting is that according to Scotland Yard they've never had any occasion to hold anyone for the 28 days, yet. So they themselves aren't pushing for the longer span. It's MP's who represent the 'safety mommies' who are. Being less fact-oriented, American law enforcement will champion anything that benefits their organization.

We who are about 50

Are going to get screwed every way you look at it. Either there won't be any SS or Medicare/Medicaid or they won't cover anything or we'll be empowered to not be able to afford 'private care'. We will in fact have 4 choices:

Outlive your money

Outlive your healthcare

Die early

Drop in the harness

There are no other options. And while our children's generation is threatening to quit jobs that don't allow them Facebook access, it's pretty clear *those* slackers aren't going to help us.

So as a soon to be geezer; all of you can fuck off and die.

Gee and here I thought

Sam Palmisano the chairman and CEO of IBM was really worth 40 million a year because he simply adds 400x more value than the average employee.

Since when has executive compensation been reasonable, Andrew?

Why Why Why?

It's just babble. It's just the same inane hashed over talking points. We've had enough 'debates'

I offer hope

I offer constancy

Constancy

blah blah blah blah.

And the next day Saloniks cheer about how great the Great Obama did, and their dopplegangers say the same thing about Insane in the McBrain.

Then the day BEFORE the election all the cable news channesl start talking about the 20% undecideds. Well let me tell you anyone who's undecided at this point should have an icepick shoved in their brain like Francis Farmer.
