You know after the last debate I was starting to feel a little better about Obama if he would end up with the nomination but this is another example of why I don't trust him. He has gotten away with murder so far, never gets called on his tactics.I think the MSM mainly sees him as a vehicle to take down Hillary and will start in on him if he wins the nomination and all of his snarky ways will get more attention. His supporters tend to be blindly so and I find that disturbing. He cannot have it both ways,he can't be the "above it all" guy and continue to use Republican talking points.I don't trust the independents and especially not the libertarians he supposedly brings in, they are not progressive and I am not convinced he is either.I want a real Democrat for president damn it! I have said it before starting negotiations right of center were Obama appears to be will get us nothing!
Just one more thing. I wish the Obama supporters would stop saying Joan is biased if she dares to point out any problems with their darling...it gets tiresome. Go to some other website if you want to worship at his alter.
I watched the Oprah rally like one of your readers suggested and while I think Michelle Obama is just terrific I distrust her husband and was very uncomfortable with Oprah. I felt her speech was at once very patronizing and pretty sickening in its abject hero worship. It made me both angry and disappointed in her. Kind of like that page in her magazine " Oprah's favorite things" with bathrobes starting at $500. For all of her ability to connect with women I think she is very out of touch with most women's reality.
I kind of have a problem with all these wealthy well connected women sighting their children as the reason they are supporting Obama. You know their children are going to be OK if this grand experiment falls on it's face.I am a retired school teacher and I too am very active because I care about my daughter'e future but she does not have a trust fund to fall back on or connections to get her a great job. With all of the financial uncertainty for her generation I would at least like to see her health insurance be a sure thing.Obama wants to start negotiations with 15 million left out.I cannot see how that will get us where we need to be, it is a weak position to start. The Kennedy children will be fine, the Shriver children will be fine what about the children of the sinking middle class?
The thing that made me the happiest about last night's results is that in our celebrity drenched culture glitzy endorsements did not hold sway. I remember a survey that came out in the fall that said when asked what they wanted to be when they grew up young girls said " famous". It made me want to weep!If nothing else maybe Hillary's grit, determination and work ethic will demonstate to them that some things matter more than celebrity.
As to the polls and pundits what a complete turn off they all are.How miserably tired and disreputable. Here's hoping that a great side effect will be the discrediting of opinionators on both sides of the political divide.
To the guy trumpting Obama's great win in Missouri I have a couple of points to make. One percent is not a landslide,Missouri got it wrong when Eisenhower beat Adali Stevenson and if you look at the map Obama won the urban centers and the University towns but Hillary swept ALL of the rural counties.I never thought I would live to see the day that good ole boys were happily supporting a woman and they turned out in big numbers!
I have lost respect for so many pundits during this campaign. I can't watch MSNBC anymore at all. I will have to catch your appearences when you post them here for your readers.Even Keith Olberman who I used to love to catch in the days when he was the only media push back to Bush.He has joined the Frat boys what a disappointment. CNN is a little better partly because I don't think Anderson Cooper has a dog in the fight and Blitzer well who really cares what he thinks. However, I can't listen to Gloria Borger's snipe she reminds me of all the things I hated about high school and would somebody please get the hook for that old drunk Carl Bernstein talk about pathetic! A man who is currently paying his bills on the backs of the Clintons is in no position to judge them, what a creep!I'm retreating more and more to good old C-Span.
I am a Hillary supporter who is trying to open my mind to Obama. I sure hope all of the young people and their wealthy parents with little to lose if things don't work out are right.I sure hope the press adulation has served the public well. I sure hope he is up to the the general. He should be, the wind is at his back. I sure hope all the independents and so called ex republicans stick. McCain looks old, sounds stale , can't shake off Bush, that is all in his favor.I sure hope America's need to feel good about itself works out this time in favor of the people. Like all Democrats the image of this fabulous, brillant African American couple and their darling children going out to the rest of the world can bring tears to my eyes. But I am realist and I can't forget all of the problems the next president is going to confront and I really worry.
