[Read the article: Tucker Carlson unintentionally reveals the role of the American press]

I caught that segment on Tucker's show and I was embarrassed for our country. Here was a real journalist being lectured by a snotty, arrogant, immature symbol of the corruption of our press! Can you imagine the conversation she is having with her collegues today?

However the press has an exception to it's lapdog response to power and that is "the Clinton Rules". I would love to see you examine the reasons for this. I would also love to see a historical point by point rebuttal of many of the lies, smears and myths about the Clintons that have been pushed by the press to the point that many Obama supporters accept them as fact.

It has been a real dissappointment to me that the writers online that I have come to depend on to set the record straight on matters of government and press malfesence have failed to do this.

Another failure of progressive online writers is their unwillingness to address the misogyny that has surfaced in the progrssive left. This has been shocking to me, it is like the 'dirty little secret' on the left this election cycle. It is being addressed on feminist blogs only. I could be wrong about this but I have never read any discussion of this problem other than on Media Matters in relation to the CNBC gang of women haters.

  • Thanks for setting some thing straight about the Clintons!

I was just complaining on Greenwald's thread that no one has done this recently. Progressives can think what they like about Hillary's campaign and it's tactics but they should know the truth about the lies and smears. Unfortunately some of the Obama supporters are so immature and wedded to their Clinton hatred that they continue to spout falsehoods even in this thread. They remind me of the Bush supporters..blindly faithful truth be damned. There are many good reasons to support Obama and they can be made without Clinton hating. What they either don't realize and probably don't care about is they are aleinating the more than 50% of Democrats who support Hillary. They are the opposite of being helpful when it comes to coaliation building and if they don't watch it they may find themselves in a shacky electorial group consisting of 'true believers' undependable Independents and lying Republicans. For the first time in my life as a card carrying Democrat I have actually been finding myself thinking....maybe I will sit this one out....maybe I will write in Hillary? I'm afraid that instead of building a movement Obama is building a mob.He will be responsible for it too for not addressing it.

  • dfield makes some good points...

.....however you are not really addressing the Reagan Dems who have been voting against their own self interests. They have finally been impacted by right wing economic theory so badly that they are open to voting Democratic. They are not going for Obama. They could very well go for McCain when the Republican opposition gets into full gear on Obama in the general. If we forget about them we are not only missing an opportunity but going against progressive economic principles.

[Read the article: The difference between Jeremiah Wright and radical, white evangelical ministers]

Thanks Glen, for a good post bringing a thoughtful analysis to one of your two suppositions. The first is what will sink Obama. The second points to the radical thinking that has become the norm on the far right and worked into the national lexigon by cynical Republican operatives. While I agree that there is much truth to Wright's rant about how 9/11 was blow back for years of aggressive foreign policy, his delivery was inflamatory and it blamed an entire race of people for the actions of an elite few. That is racism. He evoked "white" over and over not "white right wing imperialists".He preaches hate and seperatism, he seems to be blaming present day white society for the woes of present day blacks. Victimization Theology is just as destructive as the fascist phony God fearing patriotism spouted from the right.
