@ignatius

No problem apologizing at all. I sincerely don't want to upset her or anyone undeserving of it and am happy to have reasoned discussion with persons on the other side. Unfortunately it's only been of late that I've realized that's possible.

However it is definitely time for me to take a time-out from all of this too. I'm all for honest differences of opinion, but I will admit the raw vulgarity of the worst offenders here has been a real big turnoff. And that may be the understatement of the century. For my part in allowing their disgusting vulgarity to make me paint all of BO's supporters with the same dirty brush, I apologize.

One reply: Walker

Unfortunately, you and several others -- (tom payne, madamefauntroy, shawnwm to name but three) -- seem to think it is acceptable to use racism and sexism, to engage in ad-hominem personal attacks, to engage in race and gender baiting, to use red herrings and generalizations, and to use other extremely dishonest, hostile and abusive language to get your points across. I have no tolerance of such behavior and care not which candidate you support.

Screw you for even having the audacity to lump me in with that vile crowd and accuse me of the racism that I have yet to participate in.

What I HAVE done is call a spade a spade and bigotry bigotry even when the lion's share of that bigotry just happens to be coming from the black community - many of whom apparently are used to being able to freely spew their racist slurs while and expecting everyone else to tip their hat politely. I will no more tolerate racism against whites or Jews or hispanics or women or Christians than I will against blacks. And it's really not OK when it's blacks doing to to others just because once in a while someone does it to them.

If it upsets your delicate sensibilities that's just tough.

unfortunately

(that's a compliment). i'm trying to figure out where you get your toughness. black female lesbian?

Unfortunately I'm guessing more like white female Republican, thinking she's sent her by God among a bunch of other footsoliders to pose as one of them nasty homosexual libruls and divide up the enemy.

But I admit I'm guessing.

'Nite.

agreed.

but what has the new messiah contributed to the discussion about millions of Black Africans being slaughtered by Arabs in the Sudan on a daily basis? What has he said he'll do about it when he gets into office?

I'm wagering about the same thing he did for black poverty among his constituents in South Chicago. However understand this is all academic.

This branding of the Clintons as leaders of the KKK in America based on an outrageous and venal lie will come back to haunt the perpetrators, count on it. It may be effective in knocking out Hillary Clinton, but a valuable lesson is being learned by others.

Yep. I have to agree.

Give it a rest already, Manos.

Walker may be an condescending twit, but do you really have to lay it on so thick in every single one of your postings.

You'll feel better if you make a positive contribution.

Drama.

I go out to get groceries and miss all the drama. But there are good people on both sides.

Yes, that's all true. enjoy dinner.

@jameka

I agree with you. The only place I've ever seen anything resembling the hatred that is coming from SOME of the Obama supporters is the Free Republic, Coulter's site and similar rightwing sh*tholes.

As a moderate leftie, I've long said that the political spectrum is circular rather than linear, with the fringe extremes meeting together and having far more in common with each other than with someone in the center left or the center right.

But still, this entire experience has been right out of Yeats' Second Coming

@Peeps

Please don't take the highground. You may not be participating in it at this moment but you've certainly been quite so in the past.

Sunday, March 9, 2008 07:16 PM

ljwalker: if the shoe fits indeed.

Yeah, we know all about your history in Washington and all that. You've already said that. Many times. I agree

at times you've indeed been a good writer and a valuable particpant.

However you also tend to jump and thump people without really reading things or know whats going on, condescendingly assinging equal blame to people who aren't doing anything As example in no way was my reference about suspecting someone was a Republican about you whatsoever and the italic I pasted was nothing from any of your postings.

I will say it again: IF you are using racism, gender, agism, or any other "ism" to divide and fuel hatred, I will call you on it. It does not belong in an honest discussion about either candidate, their supporters/followers, their policies, or their record.

That's fine. I agree. But since I'm not and I haven't even by the admission of the sane Obama supporters, I will just appreciate it if you bother to offer something in the way of conclusive evidence before casting me in with those spew ugly invictive in every one of their postings.

It's very insulting and I certainly don't appreciate it.

Sunday, March 9, 2008 07:37 PM

Thank you, LJWalker.

I appreciate your honesty. I agree you've been the target of some very mean-spirited bigotry, but unfortunately it's been by the same people who have gone on and on ad nauseum calling me slurs I wouldn't even repeat and unable to write a single message without referring to me as a "racist white male".

Bigotry is bigotry in any form regardless of whom it is directed at and we will never get anywhere if we allow it to be toleratated at anyone at all.

I admit I do wonder if some of these people, the ones who are posting under multiple sigs and want no part of reason at all, truly aren't Republicans willfully here to try to divide us.
