A couple of things-- I'm not sure what you mean by "bloodlust"--what, you think Iranians lust after America's destruction? And, after all, it is "their" region, not ours. What gives the US the right to continually interfere, invade, etc.? I doubt we would welcome ME countries attacking Mexioc or Canada. Why can the US have nuclear weapons (and be the only country to actually use them), Israel can have them but no one else there can? Isn't having weapons the only way these countries can keep from being attacked/invaded?
As for the question of Iran supplying Iraq with weapons--every time the Pentagon or military commanders say they have "irrefutable" proof of this, they back away when asked to produce said evidence. After the whole WMD debacle, why are you willing to give them the benefit of the doubt? They should put up or shut up, if you ask me.
You don't think it takes character to come from a poor,single-parent upbringing, graduate from Harvard Law first in your class, pass up working on Wall Street to do grassroots organizing on the South Side of Chicago and run a highly organized campaign plus draw in the most campaign contributions ever from a lot of small donors and beat the Clinton machine to become the Democratic nominee and deal with the huge amount of racism still in play in the US?
Plus, I'm waiting for all the right-wingers who screamed about Clinton's blowjob to address McCain's multiple infidelities, dumping his first wife becasue she was disfigured in a car accident and marrying a thieving drug addict who subsidizes his run for office. Should be fun.
What with his stand on FISA, his support of the gun ruling by the SC and now this, I am really starting to lose faith in Obama--is he on his way to becoming another of the spineless Democrats like Reid and Pelosi? The Obama response to Clark is really disturbing, as is the rather blind support of some of his followers who seem to think the only thing that matters is getting him elected.
If Democrats are going to continue to support the Republican agenda and perpetuate this false framing of issues, what difference will it make who gets elected? I am tired of supporting Democrats only to be betrayed by their pandering--if Obama is going to pander, I won't vote for him. Let the country go truly to hell.
When Obama said he was running as a change candidate, part of the change I have been looking forward to is calling the right wing and their media enablers on the false framing of issues, not to mention their outright lies. A good part of the reason we were saddled with Bush for the last eight years is that the media painted him in a positive light and refused to look into questions around his so-called military record, his business failures etc. while they ridiculed Gore mercilessly. Why are we not allowed clarification or debate on McCain's military service? The fact that he graduated so low in his class, the efforts of his father/grandfather to advance him in the military (shades of Bush!)are things that bother me. How many planes DID he destroy? How did his superiors view his abilities? Does he bear any responsibility for the USS Forrestal disaster? What possible mental problems does McCain have as a result of his torture/imprisonment? I want to know this stuff! And I have a right to know! Pandering to the right wing by acting as if all questions regarding these issues are somehow off-limits or sacred cows not to be mentioned is ensuring that NOTHING will change, business as usual, fall in line with Pelosi and Reid. NO THANK YOU! I have been an Obama supporter from the beginning but after his capitualtion on FISA, his throwing Clark under the bus, slamming Move On and Vietnam war protestors, I am really backing off supporting him--in fact, I'm moving towards despising him.
McCain wants these questions to be asked? Then why is the right-wing enabling media acting so bent out of shape because someone made the perfectly reasonable point that flying a plane and crashing it do not not qualify one to be president? And I don't depend on Salon or any one source for my information about any candidate. My point is that the MSM, just like they did with Bush, are painting McCain in an undeservedly favorable light and stifling any debate which could reveal his negative qualities. If they could go on and on showcasing the lies about Kerry, why can't they raise some of the controversies surrounding McCain? Not everyone is as moronic as you have shown yourself to be.
